Spending your checks

Question. Are we supposed to “sign up” or some such thing to be on the list for the check? I am hoping to put it in the emergency fund, but if this drags on and on, it will be used for living expenses.

if you filed taxes this or last year your on the list.
if you had them send your return by direct deposit you should be getting in the next few days.
if you had them mail your check to you it will be in the mail,,, eventually.

Roger that. Last year I got direct deposit tax return, this year I got a check. Which I have yet to cash. So it remains to be seen how they send this “free money”

I just bought some checks with my check. Seriously, 1000 Gator .30 cal and a 1000 Gator 8mm checks.

The rest however is going into savings. We rent our old house to a family of six. Both parents work in restaurants. They haven’t gotten behind on the rent yet but who knows what will happen in a month or two. A little extra padding in that account is an OK thing, I still have to pay the mortgage.

Well got my grave plots and stone paid off, put some in the Kidd's savings. Still have a bit left. Think I will pay to have gravel for my barn hauled instead of doing it myself, then give my wife 250 to play with. Then I hear a Henry AR7
survival rifle calling my name.

Week 5 Day 6

Having not got the wife's or mine money yet, I went up to the site the IRS set up to find out what the status of the payment was. Entered all the info they requested and the response was, " No information in our system for this person." :headscratch:I have been getting SS payments for the last 9 years through direct deposit. Interesting isn't it. Like Brad said in the other thread, They have no problem getting into my account when I owe them taxes.

We're in the last day of week 5, also, and this morning the governor announced he's keeping under house arrest till May 15, thereby adding another two weeks to the insanity.

I haven't received the funds yet, while trying to provide my bank account numbers, the IRS website tells me...
"Payment Status Not Available"
And
"According to information that we have on file, we cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time."

The IRS FAQ told me that I would get this message if I recently filed my 2019 taxes.
>>>I e-filed one week ago.

Another place told me the IRS is having issues with e-filings from "H&R Block Online" and "TurboTax Online"
>>>I used TurboTax Online

:sigh:

we filed turbo-tax this year too.
they slowed up our return about a whole month on the IRS end, then suddenly it was released about 10-12 days ahead of their estimated time frame.

The IRS finally let me into the "Get Payment" portal this morning. BUT, I wasn't allowed to enter Bank info, I was given the message that a paper check will be mailed out on the 24th, sent to the address on my 2019 tax return.
So, I should see it in time to pay the first half of my property taxes on May 15.

...snip

I'm still getting the same message as of this morning.
I'm self-employed, so I have been sending Uncle Sam a check every year - no reason for automatic deposit!
As far as I know, the wife and I qualify for the checks, I guess we are just going to have to wait for the mail...

A paper check came in the mail today.
I brought it to the bank to deposit it, I asked the teller if she's seen any other checks like this today? She said there were many, maybe a hundred.
