N AL. Sat AM duck hunt. 20 deg at first light, and only 28 when we left cpl hrs later. It ain't 'sposed to be that danged cold here!

My youngest son is in the army at Ft Bragg, NC. His wife got an internship to help her get her teaching Lic. here in Mn. She and my granddaughter flew home. My oldest son and I flew down there and drove a 24' Budget truck through that mess. I did the driving and he did the navigating, entertainment selection, hotel bookings by phone. Left there Friday at @ 1800 hrs and didn't get home until yesterday at 1600 hrs. Wasn't too bad until we got to Terra Haute, In. Black ice in some spots, well marked by cars and trucks in ditches. Heavy snow on all of I90 and I94. Lots of "cowboys" in semis thinking their rigs could handle it. Had one Chevy PU spin out infront of us. We got lucky and had a new Freightliner diesel truck with real snow tires on the rear. Saved the kids some money but I swear I will never fly again. Our first flight out of duluth was an hour late leaving and caused us to miss our connecting flight in Atlanta. Delta gave us vouchers for a room and we couldn't get the truck until 0900 hrs on Friday, so only lost a couple hours of loading time. Quite the adventure.

-12 temp this morning. Going out to my casting shed turn the heater on and go back inside till it gets bearable. For my first try on my mold from Eric.

Radio just said it was -17 here now. New snow coming friday and Sat and temps at -25. Gonna be tough on the woodpile.

Weather guessers calling for -15. They say that here "many are cold but few are frozen".
We primarily heat with wood... got it all put up but it goes fast below zero.

8 right now, heading for the range shortly. Promised Ben some time back I would
test BR and BLL for cold weather. Not much wind, so today is as good as it will
get for awhile with real cold weather coming in with sleet, freezing rain, snow, etc.
May get a chance over the weekend to use the snow blower. Beats mowing grass.

That's our biggest concern down here.....usually get freezing rain then a coating of snow that insulates it. Good thing is only happens once or twice a year.
