That looks like a great bullet for a 45/70. I'm waiting to try the Ranch Dog 300gr. .460's in mine. I have to make time to hit the range. It seems like every time I am set to go something comes up or breaks down that needs my attention more.

I tried a 300 gr. bullet in my 45-70 and didn't get much out of it accuracy wise? I wasn't sure if it was a weight thing as the 350 gr + weights shoot great. I do love shooting the NOE collar buttons, 10 grs. of Unique is perfect for them after coating and sizing.

My casting area has recently resurfaced from the snow. Today, I finally got to try my Christmas present!
The MP .32acp mould is made in .312 and .314, nominal weight with large HP is 67 grs. I believe this might be the lightest .30- cal bullet out there, except maybe a RB?
Mine is a .312, and I intend to try it as a plinker in my .30-cal rifles. A bullet like this could be useful, if minimum penetration is required.
I also cast some more NOE .309-177 PB, this is shooting very well in my Howa .308.

Are those powder coated, either clear or chrome?

I never had luck with bullets under 400 grains in the 45/70, not sure why and never really investigated it.

Two of
My favorites are the Gould express @ 330 and the 350 Ranch Dog. Both shoot very well. Before that the 380rn Lyman and 400g Speer where my go to bullets.

I have the 450 Ranch dog but like the 350 better. I find a better balance of Powder cap and velocity are better without as excessive recoil.

I cast some hunting bullets for my .30 cal rifles and .45 auto pistols with the 170FN and 200 SWC Lee moulds. Around a 70/30 mix of roof lead and clipped wheel weights.
I need to smelt down some ingots from my 2”x12” lead wheel.

i got a bunch of lee 30 cal 113gr f-p's made up, then swapped over to the ACE 144.
i'll do another run of the ACE bullets next time, that should give me a little over 1-K of those.

debating on powder coating the little lee bullets.

still working through the 30 cal. molds.
got a couple of quart cups done today.

i gotta find the screws and pins? for the one NEI 311477 447 471 sumthin copy that's some heavier [180grs. airc] i think they are in the 150gr 7mm mold.
maybe just screws? been a while since i've used it.. LOL
either way i'll go down to the ACE tomorrow or the next day and see if i can match them up.

Think I might be done casting for the upcoming summer shooting season, 38/357s around 20lbs 170 rnfp, 30 cal. Lyman 311334 ended up with 300 or so, ly 311292 couple hundred, I have this old custom copy of a 311284 nice bronze mold makes a 220 gr. With a flat point made maybe 200 or so.
Just a few 22 cal. I probably won't even get around to doing anything with, I have a savage 112 in 22/250 that shoots to good with Jack's I probably won't ever get around to trying cast in it? Also a old Remington rolling block in 219 zipper that needs a better scope mount ?

warning.. shooting the 22's with cast can get addictive.
which doesn't correspond well to fat fingers.

Need to return the modified Lee 324-175 (GC removed) mold to a friend. That bullet shoots great in my oversize .32-40 High Wall. So, started yesterday, but had a friend drop by so could not get much casting done. Picked up where I left off yesterday and ended up with about 540 bullets, by weight. That should keep me set until I decide on and order a new mold for the rifle.20230221_111847.jpg
