Well this is a weather report and a what your going to be doing at least for the next day or two.
Low 70’s with high winds gusting to 40+. And it’s blowing and changing direction suddenly. Power went out couple hours ago so had to quit working on the cabin. Road the 4 Wheeler back to the house and the first tree came down blocking the driveway. Not to big about 12”. Standing in the yard could see about 5 more trees come down, big ones. You hear the snap and then the explosion followed in a second by the thump crash of tree hitting earth. Could see 3 of them and heard at least two more that I’m aware of.
Started the generator after calling the electric company. Lots of power outages al the way to Nenana about 50 miles beyond me.

Well the gusts are hitting 60 Knots, most of town is out as well. Have had about 4 or 5 more big ones come down.
Going to go make sure the chain saw is working. Neighbors just reported smoke coming from a neighbors land so neighborhood is mobilized and waiting on a report.

Edit: wrote this a little after 6 but didn’t post as neighbor Joe called from the power line Saying bring shovels, chainsaw and help. Two fires burning.
Will report on this in the morning

107* when we went into town about 4 PM.

House is nice and cool though. Brand spankin' new Waterfurnace Geothermal heat pump installed yesterday just as slick as you please. Is almost identical in size and shape to the old Carrier/Climate Master unit.

Two stories with a happy ending in the same day.

64° pre dawn and we had a nice heavy rain roll through at 2:29am. One grumble of thunder then down it came, a pleasant sound on the steel roof.

Of course that means once the front passes we will get high pressure and that does not bode well for my next two days of fishing.

We're supposed to get some drought relief, starting late this afternoon and continuing though the weekend. please-boy.gif

Ninety nine is today's forecast high. With the rain, we'll return to more normal highs. However, next week the guessers have highs in the upper 90's, returning. :(

I've got a kinder gentler weather guesser, he says 97 today. Yeah, the same guesser that yesterday said 101 and it hit 105. That's the highest temp I've seen here in the 10 1/2 years I've been here.

"OK, OK, I'm going as fast as I don't want to go!"
The morning was awesome while I waited for the Farrier to come trim the horses hooves.

About 75 degrees and 10% humidity and a gentle breeze here in the western Mojave desert.

Good farriers are not always easy to find. Half veterinarian, half blacksmith and a horse whisperer. If you rodeo, a good farrier is worth his weight in gold.
