You know you really needed the rain when it rains that hard and doesn't even make puddles, ground so dry it sucks it right up like a sponge. We've got more in the weather guess for the next 4 days. Finally.

We've been at least ten degrees higher than our average highs, for the last month. Plus, little to no precipitation, since the second week of June..........other than the .5 inches we received just after the fourth of July.

Currently, light rain with another 7/10" in gauge. Wet weather pattern to continue through Sunday. Either, feast or famine, around here. Then, it's back to highs in the upper 90's, for the foreseeable future.

Started out hot and muggy. Neighbor hired a guy to take down a dead ash next to his house. Guy showed up in an SUV with helper, saws and a bunch of rope. Neighbor tends to squeeze the nickel until the buffalo schitts so I figured this guy was cheap. Well, I have to admit that he was impressive. Climbs like a monkey and never made a false move. So, I look to the west and it looks kinda ominous. I pull up radar weather and there is a bad front coming down the lake from the west. About the same time it starts to rain. Short hard downpour and then sun comes back out. But the dark sky is still approaching. I yelled up to the guy about the storm coming and he thanked me. With that, some woman with a concerned look on her face showed up and was looking for him. I suspect it was the wife and she was there to warn him about the storm. He came down just in the nick of time.

But the worst of the storm seemed to skip us. They had a E2 tornado about 150 miles west of us. A town to the south, Cortland, got a bit of a whuppin' with uprooted trees and such. When the storm was hitting us, I could see the NE shore across from us was getting pounded. My cousin has a place on that shore so will have to see how he made out.

Heat and humidity are back today.

Another gorgeous day in late July in SW Wisconsin. Overnight low 59° high of 84° and a southerly wind. 128 miles on the Indian yesterday and another 123 miles today.

A little AM work on a fallen Elm this morning but my splitter needs some work. I'll get some supplies tomorrow. Drain the hydro oil, replace the filter, and replace a tire that always goes soft.

Rained two tenths over night again with a gentle rumbling storm busily affixing nitrogen from the atmosphere. Awoke to 70° and muggy, without a breath of breeze. Forecast for upper 80's and low 90's this week.

Here too, popper. Marine air from the Gulf of Alaska slowly drifting down, high was on 98 today also. Predicting 90 for tomorrow and high winds as the front blows thru. Heads up Fiver.

Saturday night, Sunday morning, and Sunday night, fairly gentle T-Storms with that pleasant rumble fixin' nitrogen from the atmosphere along with another 2.3" of rain. Feeling a NW breeze now so it'll cool off and dry out now.

Finally, got some measurable rain, overnight and this AM. Currently, 1.2 inches in gauge and drizzling. High of only 74* today. Last weeks three day rain event yielded 1/10 inch..............forecasted 3.5 inches. :headbang:

Should be able to plow the food plot, by Friday and seed.
