This will be a different year locally, given the COVID over-reactions now in place hereabouts. In normal years, the low desert's population usually swells noticeably as the snowbirds flee the cold weather once Christmas celebrations are complete. It isn't gradual, Palm Springs' airport almost doubles in passenger volume on 12/26 and stays in that pattern well into March. Significant numbers of those early snowbirds arrive to attend the Rose Parade--which isn't happening this year. Maybe they will just adjourn to the golf courses and BYOB on the links, since a lot of the toney watering holes are take-out-only or up on blocks now. What a weird, strange place California is becoming. YEAH, I KNOW--the place has always been pretty unusual, even during the best of times. I hope it stays peaceful.
