What is your weather today?

Big Chinook wind blew through last night. At 7PM it was 29 degrees and calm, but by 3 AM this morning it was 54 degrees, 20 MPH winds with gusts to 41. Raining on the coast, maybe some will make it over here.

You can have mine!
May your yard be green and mossy!

The mercury is telling me, now or never.

We have a hole in the back yard where gold fish live.
Last year the puppy dog used the heat tape for teething purpose, and whatever else they do when no one is watching.
The 10 feet of wire was so chewed up it looked like carrot tops freshly washed and overly toweled fro.
Yesterday the coffee gods directed me to the tamping bar, and the next thing I knew the five to six inches if ice was miraculously lifted from the pond.
Tomorrow the silicon should be dry enough for the new heat tape to live the rest of this cold spell under water and keep the gold fish from certain demise.

Ric and Creosote,
Is -10 degrees and ice that thick normal?
I've been through Yakima (spent three days in Cle Elum) and Bend and they both looked like inviting environs, but not with that kind of weather.

Normal weather here. So far. I'm outside of klamath falls Or.
4300ft.
We have gotten -20 below every year I've been here (15 years) usually for about a week. (Nights) Per winter. Sometimes twice.
I'm pretty sure I didn't sign up for this though.

Stayed in Klamath Falls, too, while on the way to Cle Elum, first week of May, 2015. Woke in the morning to see snow on the car. Snow? In May? Clear and bright and t-shirt weather, up at the lake, with patches of snow round the vista points.

Yakima has a week to 10 days of sub-zero weather every year. When it is polar express time in eastern Montana, at 6000 feet, it bleeds back here at 1500 feet. When the jet stream moves back north, we get the warmer air from the gulf of Alaska and warms back up to the 30's.

Well rock bottom at last!!! 3 hours and 41 minutes of daylight.

Shortest day today and tomorrow. It's all uphill from here until June 20th. At least it is going to warm up this week. Dark isn't to bad if it's warmer. Like my Son said when I offered to give him our house, "Alaska is to dark, to cold, and to expensive ". Sitting here today, he's right. Sitting here June 20th, he's wrong.

Had to edit my previous post. I had the July '16 Klamath Falls visit confused with the May '14 overnighter on our way to Washington.

Gorgeous weather here today, 76* right this minute with high of 78* predicted. Next real weather is supposed to arrive 12/28, until then it's Chamber of Commerce climatics. The Rose Bowl game got moved to AZ (imagine my surprise....) and I don't know what the Parade's status might be. Some over-indulged La Canada/Flintridge pullets might have their dreams of Rose Bowl royalty dashed this year. How dreadful.

ETA--And that is confirmed, no Rose Parade this year. California's re-make of "Hunger Games" continues unabated.

Well we gained a minute today!! Summer's coming guys. It's still minus temps but........
This country's weather puts the bark on you. It's not like the luxurious resort kind of weather like some guys have in Texas.
