I didnt feel I was really heavy...

But I did loose over 100# about 2010. I was right @ 300#. Then added back 20# ish, I have hovered @ 225 ever since. I know I weighed myself days before going in @ 226#. Just before surgery they weighed me @ 205 I came out of surgery @ 217!! Thats how much liquid they pump ya full of!! Lost that in about four days. When I was home first day I was 204# i dropped a pound every couple three days for couple weeks. This AM was 196. Its now a pound every 4-5 days. So Im stabilizing.
I am not at all trying to loose. Just my body adjusting to new smaller
Diet. My intake has defineatly lessened. Inadvertant side effect. At first I had lil desire ta eat and literally 1/2 of a half samich was filling. Now pretty much "normal" portions and Im fine ta next meal.

We was late visiting my wife last night and stopped at a grinder shop I hadnt been to in twenty years. I had 1/2 a grinder. I ate a lil more then half... dog ate remainder when I got home. :)

That's all good stuff, CW. Everything in moderation wins the day. I can empathize with you as I tend to eat until I'm full and that's a bad thing. I do watch my weight and cut back when I approach a point where I know I'm headed down a bad path. Beer and potato chips during the summer are my drug of choice. I even drink light beer, but it does not matter. I had two beers last night at dinner with some old friends. First beer I've had in 3 weeks. I find that I sleep better too if I don't drink.

Very sorry to hear your wife is still hurting. My wife's two sciatica attacks lasted several weeks. She rode it out at home. She iced, took way too much ibuprofen and saw a chiro several times and it started to calm down. I hope this thing settles down for your wife. Everybody is different.

Thanks my friend!! She is showing improvement. Mental is what Im most impressed with. Oct 8 is the annual Hartford Road Race. Years ago she ran this! (Many) She is joking with girls she is going and doing it with walker!!! Hahaha. She can adjust herself in bed now. Lil things but show positive!!

She is dizzy allot that needs work. Not sure causes.

Im improving daily. Walked lil too much other day. Up till then never saw a neg. I felt like I had run hard in a sprint back in grade school. It passed. Dr said it OK just dont push things. I didnt think I was...

Loaded three dummies last night. First strokes in a month felt good. Made video. Posted to the cowboy brass topic I started here. I can drive tomorrow!

Ooooh... driving again. That's gotta be a good thing.

Dizzy might be allergies. It's that time of year for fall allergies. I was getting bouts of vertigo every so often. Get up in the middle of the night to pee and bouncing off the walls like I was drunk. Only happened once in a while. Friend of my wife's said her husband had an issue with vertigo and doc told him to take Claritin or Alavert every day. Can't hurt you and can help. I looked up all the side effects of that stuff and there are pretty much none. So, started taking 1 Alavert every morning along with a spoonful of local honey and so far, no reoccurrences of vertigo. Something to consider if the docs don't come up with reason/solution.

Probably not the case here but anytime I feel dizzy or have symptoms of vertigo the first thing I check is to see if I'm dehydrated. Lots of causes of dizziness but making sure you're hydrated is a simple thing to check and treat...

Lots of things can cause someone to feel dizzy, and ear infections or anything else that effects the inner ear can certainly be a cause. I've had an ear infection that caused me to be dizzy, I've also had various legally prescribed meds cause vertigo and dizziness. But older people with their reduced sensitivities and more sedentary lifestyle coupled with diuretics from the doctors and coffee from boredom often don't realize that they are dehydrated. Ironically, when I'm working at least moderately hard I don't worry about dehydration too much, I feel thirsty and I drink lots of water. It's when I'm sitting around not doing much that I don't feel thirsty and I sometimes forget to drink enough water.

The first step in my father's decdline was when he passed out on the floor of his home from being dehydrated and gradually getting overheated. A cup of coffee at breakfast, lunch and supper was about all he drank and it caught up with him.

I didn't see blood pressure meds mentioned, but maybe I missed it.

I though "bahhh, no sweat," when warned by a younger friend who had for years been on what they put me on. Stand up - get dizzy. Bend over - get dizzy. Turn too fast - get dizzy.

Never enough to make you stagger around the room and fall over, but enough that when you're on an extension ladder, you suddenly take it a bit more seriously.

I haven't checked on this site a lot lately. I am sorry to read that Mrs. CW has had this painful malady. I hope she is progressing well.

Good news on CW's progress as well. I wish I could shed more weight like he is, I'm sure my overall condition would improve. Getting old is a major PITA, but it's better than NOT getting older.

Over the past few months I have been fighting High blood pressure even though I take high BP pill
Found out it needing boosting and an addition of a water pill! After all these years ....yes getting older changes things!
I'm feeling great now! Not so jumpy and not yelling at our youngest cat ( who is a terror!)
Felling more relaxed and able to shoot from the bench without any motion from my neck pulse!
To tell you the truth.... when my pounding pulse was causing me to shoot bad I knew I needed to see my doc!
Thank GOD for my shooting habit!

Weight: Once read you can take your weight upon high school graduation, add one pound per year since graduation and that should be your present weight.

Eight months after graduation, when I enlisted in the Air Force, I weighed 139. I must be doing something right, because I'm 10 to 12 pounds lighter than I should be, according to the article.

The article and the Body Mass Index are nothing more than midnight soil.

Dosent work here either...

I was just shy of 260# graduating high school. I wrestled unlimited class and had a 33" waist. Today is 49 years later and I was 196 this AM... ;):p

I've gained most of my 2.5# a yr since I started the BP meds .
I was skinny as a rail , bandie , benched unknowingly at the time 160 in 10 sets on the incline press our heavy bar was 40# more than the light bar ..... I was 128# and had 35# to spare for max BMI . I broke that when I was 35 . Even at 175# I only had a 32" waist on 69" frame . For the last 10 years I've struggled some to dance with 220# .

I could stand to dump about 40# now but the cook makes that difficult at best . The schedule makes it worse . Whatever my wooing beach bunny days are gone . I'm not likely to see 80 . I just have to outlive my Mom and maybe an Aunt and Uncle .

250 all thru high school. Heavy weight wrestler. Lifted constantly. Ran bleachers 2 x a week. Then issues with knees. Up 50 lb.
Then woke up one day, I found myself 410 lb and 55 years old.
Been working at it for a while but never had success till I got knocked down, the 2nd time in my life. Just recently.
Now.....Down to 370. I have just stuck here for a couple weeks. What I would not give to be 250. But just these 40lb have made a big difference. Pray I cano keep it up.
just have to keep trying.
I tell my wife I am trying to get to 350 so I can fit in my casket.;)

According to the pound per year since graduating HS rule I should be 215 lbs. I can tell you that is way too fat for me. I am at 6' and 195lbs. and still 10-20 pounds heavier than I should be. I don't carry the same muscle mass that I did in my 40's or even 50's.

I second the motion about fluids. I used to drink coffee and that was about it. I still drink coffee but make it a point to drink 48 oz. of water every day as well. According to my Doctor dehydration causes all sorts of problems including elevated blood pressure and the accumulation of Kidney and Gall stones. Water is cheap, drink more of it.
