How bad are we being.........

Surgical masks are a little better than just a homemade one or the ones sold at Walmart. They trap basically NO VIRUS.
N95's are what we wore when Dr's cauterized Vaginal Warts (nasty virus). They worked as long as you had a good seal. When you have a good seal, it's difficult to breathe. I worked in OR's for over 45 years, always hated when I was assigned the OB/GYN suite.

You got to use your PPE correctly.

Paper masks WILL keep AA-7 powder from being aspirated. I Just tested this my own self in the garage, and can confirm that the masks are 100% effective.

Give the COVID consciousness-raising a rest, folks. IDGAF! We all die of something eventually, and I'm a lot closer to that eventuality than many of the folks beating their gums here and elsewhere over mask mandates and responses to same. People seeking mandates need to focus on locales like the Castro District in SFO--Cathedral City--and Palm Springs. All three places are target-rich environments for that venue. Fear porn of this stripe is just ridiculous.

Ahem. I have yet to try AA-7 in either the 9 x 19 or the 10mm, maybe I have missed out on the fun. AA-7 is THE POWDER for both 30 Mauser/7.62 x 25 and 30 Luger/7.65 x 21. Its best attribute for me is that it meters so well in my RCBS powder measures--like all ball and flake powders have since Day 1--excepting 800-X. 800-X has a very weird set of chromosomes.

Political or not, I come here to avoid this kind of crap.

I'm OK with thread drift, but I'd prefer to complain about powder prices/.availability than whether or not I have to wear a mask.

No need to get riled up over a little Virus Jeff. BTW, why'd you read it if it upsets you?

Time to return this thread to complaining about component prices and availability.
Availability is becoming less of an issue but prices haven’t dropped much. Well, primers may have but not powder.

Availability is not the problem here at all. It is the crazy prices still. While they are coming down, I don't want to spend $50+/lb of powder.

I will say this right now. You better stock up now till the end of the year. Next year things are going back even higher priced. I have been hitting our local range hard picking up brass to cash in on now while the price is over $2/lb. I picked up 3 guns already with the extra cash from the brass. And now I am going to focus on powder and primers. I ordered 5K last month. But I want to get at least 15K more by the end of the year.

I need to get with the reloader friend that stocks SW powders and see what he has extra of. Last time I got Tactical Rifle powder for $9.99/lb from him. I brought empty 8lb jugs and he filled them up and only charged me for 8lb ea. I bet there was 10+lbs in them. If you guys have not tried SW powders they work just like every other powder and the price point is pretty good on them.

Honest question, what makes you feel next year is going to get a lot worse? Election or something else. Of course, nothing ever gets less expensive, so I'm sure you're correct.

Tell me more about these SW powders? Where are you getting these for that price?

I think that we will see more powder become available once most of us get restocked.
I doubt that we are going to see much in the way of price reduction.
These prices make me glad that I am well stocked on powder.

To me a solution may be get a class 6 license, buy bulk and "load" very large ammo cases with whatever powder my neighbor needed.
Maybe use a 40mm Bofors case. Just saying of course....

I have tried Shooters World Match in .223 and got great accuracy. So I loaded .223s with it until I ran out(one pound).
The next time I went to Scheels, I looked for it but ended up with AR Plus instead- which I haven’t tried yet.
$28 per pound.

Our Gov loves inflation -- period! Xiden just decided Gov workers get 5% increase along with last yrs 4% increase. Inflation is cumulative -- only DEFLATION would change value. And deflation of $ (really the same as inflation) comes with depression-- a real one. They started that Kensyan thing in the 40s and won't change as that would mean all our economic 'training' was WRONG.
Simple economic reality - prices go up as 'value' goes down. Else the companies go out of business.
Basically prices are not going down - get used to it.
Proof? I pay 8% school tax every year BUT they call it mil (x $/1000) or x $/100. If they actually said 8% the public would have a fit. And state is trying to limit assessment to <10% per year. School tax has gone from 2% to 8% in 25 yrs and education has gone into the dumpster.

Spot on Tommy; I've gone the route of cleeaning up/out the gun safe narrowing the numbers of calibers I load for, makes funds available for the consumables. Not an ideal method but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

This has been my mode of operation as well, and no, not ideal, but I wonder if you or others have discovered a new form of enjoyment in the mental exercise of optimizing and experimenting. This has turned into a very enjoyable endeavor - trying things I would not have otherwise.

I don't like changing things I LIKE, but now I'm finding more new things to do AND like. It's all propagated a whole new facet of pleasure in casting, loading and shooting for me. A lemons/lemonade situation in which we defy an otherwise undesireable situation, carry on and have our fun in spite of something trying to spoil it.
