Always kinda wanted a 6 inch model 57. Had occasion to work with Ventura PD back in the mid 1970s; they carried 6 inch model 57s.

Now that is a classy set up. Nice photo Paden.
Thanks. Still working on breaking in that leather. I reckon another 20 years otter do it.

Here's a pic of the same gun after I removed the tail flair from the backstrap. That makes it much closer to an original Bisley profile, and works much much better for my hand/wrist geometry. I've tuned the trigger, added Power Custom base pin, free spin pawl and cylinder latch, and corrected the timing. It's a pretty good shooter now. The terrible line gouged on the cylinder is courtesy of the factory original cylinder latch with burred leading edge. I've cleaned that up too since photo was taken.Bisley mod 2.jpg Bisley mod.jpg

Eventually, I'll need to apply the same backstrap treatment to my new .500L: 500L.jpg

Some more eye candy for ya'll. Especially Charles, who I know loves the Colt double actions.

OK, here is a favorite wheelgun. She is a real tackdriver with good ammo, too.
Lucked into her at a gun show, wasn't exactly sure what it was other than a
really beautiful little S&W target revolver in nice shape. Discovered that generically
these are called Bekeart 22/32 target models, but mine is not one that was actually
sent to that dealer. Sort of like the Lipsey special run Rugers today.
S&W liked his specs for this run of special order guns and
put it in the catalog. IIRC, this one was made in the '30s. Got it for a
nice price, too.

Linebaugh Custom Maximum in 458 Maximum caliber ( 45-70 1.6").
6" barrel with barrel banded front sight.
Ivory Micarta Grips.
Recently shot 405's at 1450 at the Linebaugh Midwest Sixgun Seminar in Carthage IL, and went 48" penetration in wet newsprint.

Hhmmm . . . 6 inch revolver. 1.6 inch 45-70 and 405 grains at 1450 fps.

As long as your having fun, that's what matters. ;)

In my experience, wet newsprint penetration is right at half of ballistic gelatin penetration,
so 8 ft of penetration should pretty much cover anything. And looking good while doing it.

Brian Pearce reported punching broadside (on the shoulder) through a cape buffalo and killing
a second one standing behind it, then an end to end heart shot from thigh to heart as the buff
ran off with a 405 flat point jbullet at about 1600 fps (.45-70) from a Marlin. The PHs
were incredulous, could not understand how that penetration was happening.

That revolver should take anything that walks the earth.

The 458 will run the 405's at 1500 if needed, and will run 300's at 1700 fps.

The recoil isn't as bad as you would think.
