you might wanna start thinking about a separate power box to the Garage.
and a storage shed for the metal.

I have a 60 amp sub panel in the garage already. It was installed when I had power run for the lathe.

Got it powered up and it runs! The DRO is up and running too. Need to install the x axis power feed and tram the head.

Speaking of trimming the head, my .0005 indicator seems wonky soo I need to order a new one. The indicator holder I got for tramming won’t hold my .001 dial indicators. May need to make something tomorrow?

Brad, that is slicker than calf slobber. Nicer looking than I had imagined.

Now I'm anxious to see it covered in chips and cutting oil.

Got the head trimmed. Used a mag indicator holder on the spindle and measured over a 13” span left to right. Got it to .001 over that span. Some flycutting will tell me how good it really is.
Vise is in place. Thank you YouTube for excellent videos on how to do that quickly.

Need to grind a flycutter tool and make some chips. Good thing I have the week off!

Smart to take the week off, I was wondering if you were going to skip bed tonight and go to work with metal chips in your hair.

Brad, when you do get around to procuring a new indicator, don't fail to look at Compac, Interapid or Mitutoyo. Compac is very robustly built, good reliability and good range of travel. The Compac 215GA is my favorite. Compac, Interapid and Bestest are all made by Tesa in Switzerland.

Last day of season. It is the first time in 15-20 years. That i never saw anything.

Just to help Kevin feel better, well maybe not, here is a picture of a friend of mine in upper MI near Iron Mtn. Last Saturday morning, first day this year hunting for her and in 40 minutes had this buck with a compound bow.

Twenty four degrees out this AM, with 10 mph winds out the north. Dusting of snow, on the ground. Went out for a couple of hours, sat in one of the tent blinds.

Passed on another 6 to 8 point buck, at 7:15 AM, with his nose to the ground. Hot on the trail of a doe. Came within 20 yards of the tent blind. Forgot my backpack, with my binocs and camera.:headbang:

Still waiting for that wide rack to show up.

I put field corn out for the tree rats, it keeps the cats entertained. Every day it seems we get one of these critters eating the corn.

He looks to be 1-1/2 years old with his first set of antlers.
Will be a good deer if he gets to be 5-1/2 or 6-1/2. Will get smarter, too. Will learn to stay away from those dangerous hanging baskets and lawn furniture, haha!

got out fishing again this afternoon.
it was rough going there for a bit they were bighting but i wasn't catching them too good.
on hit me good an I set the hook and immediately got wrapped around something I couldn't budge and ended up losing about 30 yds. of line.
I finally got a decent one and about 20 minutes later I had one playing around and I decided to wait it out.
it was bringing my stuff back in towards me and I caught up with the reel and set the hook.
it took off for the ice shelf I was fishing on the edge of, and I was hanging on.
Jax heard the drag and come running down the shore to help, which I didn't want at the moment.
since I had lost the line and I was casting out about 50 yds I didn't have a whole lot of line left to work with, and this one was trying to get it all.

worked and worked to bring it in being careful to make sure the fish was fighting the pole and not taxing the line too much, I got it in to about 20 yards and it took off again making a run of about 25 yards and heading towards some weeds to my right.
I got it turned around and started working it in towards shore and jax decided it was time to wade out and help me out.
she tried but the fish was too big for her to get ahold of and I made her come back and it took off again on another run.
I knew it was at least 4 lbs. at this point, but it wasn't sluggish and didn't tire as easily as they normally do at that size.
I had to kind of let it go at this point and I clicked the drag out a little looser and raised the tip of the pole to almost vertical to make it work harder.
I finally got it stopped and turned it sideways to the shore and it worked it's way back and forth while I kept the pressure on working line in a little at a time.
this time I directed it towards a little rocky point off to my left that was about 6-7"s deep, but it was having none of that nonsense and shot straight along the edge towards where the first one had got me all wrapped up before so I walked down the shore to my left edging it that direction.
this time it come up on top and done a half jump and head shake and I thought it was for sure going to break the line or throw the hook.
but it kind of a half hearted attempt and I was able to control it's head now and was winning the fight.
Jax decided maybe it was time to help again and got a boot in the ass for her efforts and decided she was now a spectator.
I got it coming in and back over to the shallow point again and it almost swam itself up against the ice along the shoreline and waited for me to get there and hook it under the gills and lift it out of the water.

I didn't have the scale with me and I briefly thought about heading straight to the taxidermist,, then made up my mind to take a length measurement and release the fish.
it went a touch over 30"s long and I didn't want to keep it out of the water any longer than necessary so I didn't measure the girth but I'd put it around 16-17"s just from having my hand part way around it.
probably fat enough to be close to 7 lbs.
Jax was not amused when I walked out in the water a little ways and started reviving the fish and let it go.

it was time to come home I was done fishing for the day.

23 degrees this morning in my back yard.
I know that's not much to some of you, but in north Texas, this time of year, it's pretty darn cold!
We usually don't see these temperatures till January or February.

I kind of enjoy this time of year.
it's cold but little to no wind and in the 30's.
if I can delay going outside until 11 or so and stay in the sunlight it's not bad at all.

the lake is starting to turn over and I couldn't fish my normal spot yesterday it has ice built up about an inch and a half already.
I might try the north end it has a shallow bay.
