mine went to walking at about 9 months.
I thought that was quite a bit early, I guess he figured it was faster than crawling.

went down to the valley 'as usual' on Sunday.
it was about 30-f with light winds down there, so just about right for shooting.
I stopped at the Lowe's for some trim pieces and a couple of little things to straighten out room-3, the ladies there tried to give me a bucket of little hand flags,,, I took 2.

Just got back from opening weekend of pheasant season here in Kansas. It's about a 4 hour drive to our huntng area. Saturday started off about 17 degrees with a 20 mph wind, didn't take long for the wind to get to as much as 30mph. Not the best conditions for pheasant hunting. The population has been way down the last few years, a little better last year and about the same this year. We hunt walk in areas, get to the field at least a half hour before daylight to beat the other hunters, and wait for legal time. The first field will be the only one all day that hasn't been hunted at least once, some will have been hit several times. Everything we hunted was heavy grass, crp, you have to pick your feet up and push through the tangles to take another step. This ol man put in 11.5 miles according to the health app on my iphone, was really glad to hit the bed that night. At nearly 66, this isn't as easy as I remember it. Our group of three regulars with two young boys, with a couple new guys only took 4 roosters and 5 quail Saturday. Went till noon Sunday and got 3 pheasant, 2 quail. Hunted with a 3 year old lab, and a gung ho 1.5 yr old shorthair that is really turning out to be a good one. Son and I both hunted with 16 ga SxS, mine a Dickinson with 1 1/8 oz -5s, his a 100 year old Oscar Will (Venus Gun Works, Suhl Germany) with light 1 oz-5s @about 1185fps. Both hit hard on birds out to about 35 yards.

Great report 270. I gave up that sport a few years ago as "arthur"made it hard to recover for a two day hunt. Last few trips were up to just west of Salina and the bird population was quite diminished. Previously to that location we went to a spot just west of Garden City. Glad you made it back alright.

Just got a call that the mill is in town at the dock waiting for pickup. You know what I’m doing today.

I'm a little stiff today after stalking six miles through hilly, rocky terrain, but that's nothing compared to snow or high grass.

Great news, Brad! Don't let your excitement get the better of you, go slow and think twice about every move you make before you make it.

yeah, putting a delivery driver out of work.
Yep, that I am doing. He would leave it at the bottom of my drive. Just what I need, 1250 pounds on a pallet at the bottom of a good 10-12 climb.
Instead I am getting help such that it is delivered right to the garage door and hoisted into place.

Thanks Ian, this pheasant hunt is the highlight of our hunting season, deer and elk don't compare for us. We've definately had better hunts, went 4 years in a row limited out and back at the hotel by 1:00 back in the early 2000s. Several drought years in a row really hurt the population.

solid shot gun that should go another 100 years.

I see some octagon barrels and caliber changes on some lever guns in Brad's future.
I also see he is going to find out how good his friends are in a little bit...LOL.

Hope you like your house, Brad, you've now officially made it too expensive to ever move out.

Build a cathead steady rest for your lathe out of 1" aluminum using the mill and you can turn any barrel you want. Make your own barrel wrench with a 45° mill cutter and some aluminum bar or hardwood blocks. Do you have a tool grinder? You can make a Marlin thread tool out of HSS and a bench grinder if you have a good stone surfacing tool. Hot-water blue the barrel in your kitchen, make it look like a million bucks easy-peasy. The projects are endless.....

Thanks to Freebullet without whom this would not have been near as easy. Great guy to help out, takes it slow and easy with an eye of safety.

Wasn't it back in the Clinton administration you ordered it? But hey, it's home now and the possibilities are endless.
