Having a gob of meat in the smoker. Probably a couple of Crown and Peppers later .

I have officially completed my 55th summer solstice and 56 th orbit of the sun . Kind of a melancholy birthday . Nothing wrong pain free gluttony as a reward for another successful turn around the block .
56?!! Hell, you're just a pup.

What is a "driving bulb"?

The weld story reminds me of a tale I heard in Okinawa back in the early 80's. A local brewery built some large tanks. Welded construction of course, and all the material was stainless. Problem was that the welders, while they used stainless filler metal, used carbon steel wire wheels for clean up. All those little bits of brush embedded in the stainless rusted. Result was the tanks were useless, had to be torn down and the okinawan beer supply was in jeopardy!
Lights that come on when driving. Day time driving light maybe?

Parked the motorhome in front of the house, yesterday afternoon, washed it and waxed the metal cab, sorted through all the stuff that's kept permanently stashed in the interior and exterior storage areas, and loaded some stuff. My wife filled her wardrobe with clothes enough for two days, but where she's going to put five more days of clothes remains to be seen. Wherever it is, I can guarantee she'll wear only half of them. (We go on a week-long road trip all my stuff goes in a gym-size duffle bag, including the ditty bag. She needs two suitcases, a cosmetics case, and a pillow.)

The interior lights use 1147 bulbs, and I ordered soft white (3000 to 3500 range) LEDs to try. I'm skeptical about their illumination level -- don't want it so bright sunglasses are required -- but those tail/parking bulbs do get hot. Jeff has an excellent return policy ;).

still better than taking a baby camping.
my week long pile of stuff was a gym bag and a sleeping roll, the bag fit in my cooler.
more than half the truck was full of 2 kids stuff.

moved too much dirt today.
my left arm and shoulder said quit 2/3rds. of the way through, and my back said enough at the 75% point.
i took a break and then had to hobble/gimp around the yard for 10-15 minutes to loosen up enough to finish.
then i stood there looking at the new box full of dirt wondering what i was gonna plant in it, i have some egg plants i could move out there, but the frost we had this morning said don't bother.

Ha my wifes B-Day is today!!

Starting my day getting the smoker running & cutting the lawn. I brined the bluefish overnight. Hoping its enough... I better check the fish first. But rain for tomorrow and Tuesday so unless it brines till Wednesday I better smoke today.

We are going to a friends home this afternoon. His B-Day was Friday. So we celebrating two Bdays today with smoked goodness off his grill! He never had bluefish smoked. So we bringing wine, desert (bullets for him) and my smoked Bluefish.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Don't know if Imelda Marcos was related to the Gabors, but my wife has her shoe buying trait, too.
That's got something to do with chromosomes as it affects ALL females as far as modern science can detect. I admit, I have 2 pair of winter boots so I can have one drying while the other is worn, but thats about as "Imelda" as your average male gets, metro-sexuals excepted.

The pool goes up today. Oldest son, The Angel and oldest girl will assist me- I think. SWMBO said flat out I wasn't doing it alone, so it's been on hold for a couple weeks.

Lost a yearling ewe yesterday, probably early morning. No clue why, disturbing.

Finally got belts on the JD300 mower that seem to work. 5/8" instead of 1/2". But 5/8" belts take more HP to run than 1/2", so the rebuild need becomes more apparent. Got the wheel bearing replaced on the Ford 800 and it's out of the way, but now I can see the left side is also showing too much movement! I should have just gotten a new spindle, bearings and hub assy as this thing was beat to death long before I got it. GMC still showing signs of lifters not working right, researching that. With the Ford tractor out of the way I either need to put the JD crawler there for ring replacement or the F350 for exhaust work/sheet metal. Decisions!

A few more days of rain still forecast, need some dry weather!

WELL, I'm not sure exactly where I fit in?
Here are some personal factoids about me.
I've lived in the same house for 30 years.
I like boots.
I ain't afraid of used boots, if they are serviceable.
While I don't do the garage saling like I use to, I do hit a lot of thrift stores.

About 12 years ago, I did some major closet cleaning, to make room for equipment from a new hobby (homebrewing). I sorted out and throw away 40 pair of boots that I've accumulated, that weren't the best size for my feet, which seemed to have grown over the years. After that cleaning, I still had several pair of boots and shoes. In the last 12 years since then, I suspect I've bought about 2 to 4 pair of boots every year. Currently, I've been favoring a Honduras made boot that goes on sale at the local farm store, for about $55, the sole is fairly soft and my bowed legs wears them to a unusable state in 8 to 10 months. I've got several pair of those piled up in the closet...I have some plans to attempt to "resurface" those soles...some day?
>>> I also wear a certain type of Diabetic shoe (for light duty), and I have a "Imelda" sized collection of those as well.

First step in fixing a problem is admitting you have one!

Actually I'm somewhat jealous. I have a really tough time finding a shoe that's at all comfortable and boots are near impossible. My formerly size 9.5/10 feets are more like an 11 1/2 these days and I can't have any pressure at all on the top (arch?) of my foot or it hurts like crazy. If you can get off the rack shoes or boots that work for ya, good on you!

The pool is up, 4 pair of hands made the job infinitely easier than just one pair. SWMBO decided she was "sick of chicken" so I had to suffer with T- bones!!! Tough living I'm tellin' ya! She found an 8x10 kennel for 50 bucks, so there went the afternoon. Whatta day! At the present rate the pool should be abut filled with icy ground water in 3 days, it's a big sucker.

Jeff's driver delivered the motorhome's warm rated LEDs, and I replaced nine of the 11 1141 incandescent bulbs. In the daylight, they didn't appear to be any brighter, so that's a good sign. The remaining two fixtures are above each side of the dining table, and I'll wait till our first camping night to install one and compare to the other. We don't want blinding light, just warm and cozy. We don't dry camp -- or rather haven't yet -- but if we do the LEDs lower amperage rating will be beneficial.

Drove it back to the airport storage area where it'll remain till Wednesday afternoon when we exchange it with the car and leave.
