Lamar, your problem may be due to new money Treasury has printed to fund infrastructure projects and Bush The First's American With Disabilities Act.

Probably been three years, now, but the other side of the street our cul-de-sac opens up to was torn up so a new water pipeline could be laid. One day I was working in the yard and saw the engineering inspector walking up and down and around and looking befuddled. We struck up a conversation and he said the surveyor(s) mis-read the down-slopping grade of the cut-d-sac/street/rain water trough intersection.
So?, I asked.
Well, the sidewalks will flood.
They never have.
Well, the sidewalks will be torn up and replaced with new ones.
Why?
Because they have to be ADA compliant, with wheelchair access and blind peoples' yellow bumpy matting.
I've lived here for almost 45 years (at the time) and you can see the wheelchair access that was put in many years ago, and I've never seen a wheelchair or a blind person walking along the street.
Makes no difference, the sidewalks and rain trough have to be torn up and replaced and made ADA compliant and the rain trough needs to be moved five feet out into the street so the wheelchair access/blind persons' yellow bumpy matting won't flood.

I've still not seen a wheelchair nor a blind person on the sidewalk, never mind anyone using the wheelchair access or the yellow bumpy matting.

It's all about needless and ill-conceived make work projects.

She asked for cloths -- don't take anything 'special', she will get what ever the person helping her has around. Unfortunately the way it is. Also no jewelry or anything of value or important. Take good snacks to her that she can get when she wants.
About got one area of painting done, she came out to help. No comment.
Edit: She did great for the part she got done!

I keep telling myself, the last thing I need to do is buy another gun. ...

I reply to him, (reiterating) the last thing I need is to buy another gun, but then I ask what is he asking for the 527. I really liked that 527, as it was a bug hole shooter with jacketed bullets. ...

Anyway, if things go as planned, I should have this in my grubby little hands before the weekend is over.

Got off work at 5am. Took a n hour nap. Had Morning coffee. Went to the wound Doctor. Found out I can now take a shower finally.
No more French baths for me!!!! :)
It felt so good to take a nice hot shower. Still wear a dressing for another week but I am allowed to get the wound wet now, and scrub it with soap and water.
So another nap, then lunch.
Made some pan lube, now getting ready for work.
Man I am feeling pretty good. Better then in a while!!
God has been good to me and the prayers of many were answered!

Truly wonderful news Emmitt! You have your life back, can't ask for a lot more than that!

Ordered a filter for the JD 1010 crawler/loader/backhoe on the advice of a poster on a forum dedicated to those machines. Said he'd seen clogged filters cause air sucking at the pump. I admit, I was pretty skeptical. So far, it looks like he may have been right. Haven't had a chance to really work it yet, but it seems a heck of a lot better. The old filter had maybe 3-4 hours run time on it I think, but it was pretty nasty inside. There's also supposed to be a mesh pre or post filter, not sure which, inside the replaceable one. That's missing. Maybe this will work out after all.

Got the F350 started. No skipping, no fuel starvation symptoms on either tank! Needed gas for the loader so I took it to the corner store 2 1/2 miles away. Made it about a mile and the front tank decided to go back to it's old tricks. The rear tank was okay, but not great. I dunno on this. Common sense says the in tank fuel pumps, but both at only a couple years old, maybe 4 or 5 for the rear one that got a whole new tank assy. Trucks! They're driving me nuts!

Went into surgery center at 6:30 this morning. Had carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel surgery starting at 8. Out of hospital and home watching TV by 10:30. All feeling has returned and it hurts some but I haven't needed any of the acetomenophin/hydracodone tablets they prescribed. May need to take one tonight so I can sleep - that's usually what I have to do the night following outpatient surgery - but doubt that I'll need any tomorrow.

They'll evaluate the results, give me some therapy (getting back to work would be pretty theraputic), and schedule surgery on my right arm in a few days.

My Dr wouldn't do that, with a prosthetic leg he wanted to make sure I had one good hand available. I don't have any problem wih that logic. He also wants to evaluate how I heal what with diabetes and all. Will have to get some therapy but getting back to work would be good therapy. I am not really a sedentary creature although I'm not Senior Olympian either.

Hope my outcome is as good as yours CW.

i bet he loves that thing CW.
my neighbor has one just like that, he uses it for everything.
he drags his pasture with it, cruises it around town, and even just takes it out for rides on the dirt roads around the edge of town.
i think he takes it most of the time so his wife doesn't go with him.... LOL.

well this morning went umm something.
they are trying to schedule the paving for next thursday or friday.

anyway.
after a short discussion with the contractor and the engineers inspector lady, they gave me the name of the guy i needed to talk to.
i went to city hall and had a slightly loud chat with the city engineer.
some of the other doors in the area got closed mid discussion, and the first few words out of my mouth were something like WTF!!!
i finally asked him if he had even got over there and looked at what was going on.
he was like well i drove over a few times.
did you get out of your truck?
no.
if you wanna come over i can show you what you did in 5 minutes and what needs to be done there.
let me pull up the over head.
up comes an overhead picture that's, man i dunno, 15 years old.
he's like okay here's the right of way.

yeah,, and here is where your EFFi'n me to tears.
i swear to god you ain't gonna like the bill i'm gonna present to the city the first time it rains real hard or when the snow melts next spring,
it'll be cheaper to just buy me another house.

all right i'll work something up and present it to you and you can check it off before we do anything.

well you better hurry,,, the contractor pretty much plans on being done next Friday.

We took my 15 YO great granddaughter salmon fishing Thursday.
I hooked a 20#er and handed it off to her.
We lost it right at the boat.
Dang. She did land a nice jack salmon though.
$1100 later I have new tires on my Dodge Ram 1500.
I got 57K mile out of the old ones. I shouldn`t have ran them that long.
Well, deer season opens in a week and I don`t want to deal with tire problems.
Man, dealing with my wifes things is sure tough.

Boy, I had the rust fixed on my 2014 F-150, longest 17 days of my Summer. I punctured my hand on the first of September, took the truck in on the 6th, so I lost the best part of the month from a fishing stand point. No trailer hitch! $3,300 later the truck looks like new, which is a good thing because in the current situation of truck prices etc. there isn't going to be a new truck in my future for a while, plus I really like this truck.

So the truck is back, my wife is out of town attending a class and I am going fishing, violating my own rule of never go fishing on weekends. Besides, I need a day to recover from moving firewood yesterday. We cut up a red oak this week and split it, and it is going to need to season for a year before I burn it in the house stove. So I don't want to pile it in front of the ash, elm, and popple I already have seasoned and ready to burn this Winter. So I moved a lot of nicely stacked wood and re-stacked. Some up by the house under the porch roof, some in the wood box, but the majority simply got moved 10 ft. Pick it up, 5 pieces at a time, carry it to the new location, stack it back up. We criss cross stack for stability about chest high. Makes for nice neat piles, but is tedious. Now I also have room for a load of cut up slab wood for cooking maple syrup next Spring.

The nice thing about Red Oak is that it's got large pores (or whatever they're called) that let the wood dry comparatively fast. It's the same reason it will soak up water from a rain though. Not the worlds greatest firewood, but better than a sharp stick in the eye!

Today will be a dedicated fixin' day, I hope! I have to adjust the clutch on the Massey 65, drain the hy-tran fluid from the Massey 135 and pull a side cover off to loosen up a sticky valve, play with the 1010 Deere loader some more and put the adapter back in the Bobcat. I likely won't get it all done, but I shouldn't get too bored.

Had a very light frost here in the low spots this AM! Just reminds me how much I dread winter. I'll be in long johns and wool socks with Sorels on before long.

Too much to do.

It's been 24 hours since my surgery. Haven't needed to take any pain pills to sleep. Unless I touch the actual place where my Dr made his incisions it simply doesn't hurt. Can't use my left hand to do much, I'm going to kick back and watch TV for a couple days.
