Al, I also hope your prosthetic fitting goes well. You sound like you're ready and prepared. My only shared thought is the importance of making sure your prosthetic fits snugly, you want the pressure to be applied evenly to your residual limb, if it fits loosely all the pressure is on the end and that will hurt and cause issues. Mine would get loose over the course of the day and I would have to put on another sock to tighten things up. My first two prosthetics used a spiked barb on the end of the gel sleeve that locked into a hole in the base of the socket. Easy to put on and off but hard to keep snug, especially when the residual limb starts shrinking. My third prosthetic is held on by a different method that works better but they wouldn't fit me with that until my stump stopped changing size.

I'm rooting for you

Tomorrow's appliance is the "trial" prosthetic, for the reasons you described--shrinkage of the site for 6-18 months post-surgery. Thank you for the encouragement, sir.

Happy Birthday Keith

JonB,
Who made your hat? Looks like some of Eric Bergs work. He sewed for a few years then kind of checked out.

I've been making wolf snares for a customer in Ak. today. Tomorrow start 14 dozen "Wolf Restraints" for Mn. state and some for a tribe in Wi. Where is the PC icon?
We've got a few days of some serious cold headed our way. Brought all the dogs into the shop. Funny how 100 lb. Labs all turn into puppies when they get in close quarters! One is trying to type with his nose now!

Lamar,
I need two more hands! They are ganging up on me when I scratch on just one! I like the attention. Staying up late tonight to keep the stove going. Might have to get that brass trimmer out here in a few minutes.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Best wishes and best of luck to Keith and Al respectively. Stopped raining around 1:30 yesterday. I was out in the rain doing chores and working on wood anyway, what a tough guy I am! Found a nice dead Ironwood tree that I thought would look nice blocked up and sitting in the wood pile. Got ready to cut the base and noticed a small "moth" flying around. Not unusual in warm winter weather. Then I saw a couple more in the space of a few seconds. Honey bees! I'd found a bee tree, might even be one of our hives that swarmed and got away. So that tree is still standing. Did get the old 420 JD crawler going. Gotta do a bit to it and get it in the woods now that we have some snow. Had to take one of the kids to a Drs appt right after school and headed in at 2pm to get her. The snow had come back by then was well built up on the road. Got caught in the slush and it put right into the plow bank. Played pin ball for a second there! Too fast, no doubt, my bad. No harm done though. Stupid of me.
