Hope my knee job will have a good result. Mixed feelings since my bad knee isn't
as horrible as many/most are.....but there are a number of good reasons to do it. It would
be easier to be certain if it was killing me continuously. :)

A follow up to post #6236. When I bought the S & D toolbox and didn't get it I filed a complaint with eBay. I got my money credited back to my account so I thought all was good. I even ordered another toolbox from toolguys2 and it was delivered a day early and in good shape. Issue settled , right? WRONG!

When the first box didn't arrive I went to the sellers site and clicked on a button for package tracking. Turns out the program SmartPackageTracker is malware. It loaded a "redirector" and a pop-up virus that starting bringing up ads in Chrome, taking me to sites I didn't want to go to, slowing down browsing to a crawl, and disabling certain other functions like attaching files to an email. Finally had to delete Chrome, download and run Malwarebytes, reinstall Chrome, and reboot my laptop twice. It found 58 buggy files, all dated from the day I clicked to track my package.

The seller isn't making money from selling tools, he is making money from ad revenue from the redirector and pop-up ads.

DO NOT CLICK ON SMARTPACKAGETRACKER. IT IS MALWARE!

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM shlru_9

Tomorrow I'm going to contact eBay and try and get this turd flushed off their site.

My BIL has had both knees replaced.
Said it was the best decision he had ever made.
No pain in either knee now.
Getting thru security at the airport, now that's another story. He has a Dr. certificate to help with that.

Wow Keith, that is a bummer. Let us know what ebay says. Somehow I don't think they will care all that much but maybe huh?

So how is the construction site coming along?

They had equipment at the site Friday, I went over to talk to contractor. The ground isn't muddy but it is spongy, when they drove heavy equipment over the pad location you could see it was like driving across a mattress. The contractor said that condition would be OK for the gravel parking area but not for the foundation and floor. I told him I wasn't going to get impatient and try and save a day or two at the expense of the building integrity, I was in it for the long term - he agreed so when it is dry enough he will proceed w/o my being a Nervous Nellie and bothering him about progress.

We had a bad rain yesterday but only for an hour, maybe we it won't cause to many delays.

Most of the building parts have now been delivered and are sitting up on blocks under tarps. When they do get started the shell will go up real quick.

As to eBay, I don't know what their response will be but I will be my most polite, persistent, pain-in-the-lower-elevation self. They did get my money back and they do have a vested interest in keeping bad sellers off their site so we'll see what happens.

Nope, stomach is a big issue with long term use. NSAIDs work by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis because prostaglandins are a large cause of inflammation. Problem is that prostaglandins also help protect the stomach from acid.
Celebrex, a COX-2 inhibitor, helps protect the stomach by being more specific in its work. It largely interferes with prostaglandins in the joints and muscles while being far less effective in interfering with those that protect the stomach.

And never forget that one NSAID is widely used to promote heart health.

I just cast another 450 ish 200 swc for the 1911. While the pot was heating I showed the wife how to start the string trimmer I bought her last year.

I (personally, and probably technically incorrectly) put aspirin in a separate category from the rest
of the NSAIDs. For me, aspirin is a literal miracle drug. The worst knee or sciatica pain is knocked
down to zero or near with two aspirin for me. I never take it except after a meal, or at minimum
a snack and a big slug of water, if a knee issue is just killing me and I have to keep functioning.

Plus, my cardiologist put me on one 325gr aspirin every day 15 years ago, and I have had several
GI tract scope jobs, top and bottom, in that time and all is pink and healthy.

A few of the non-aspirin NSAIDs have been associated, after long use, not casual use, with some
heart damage. In the end, nobody makes it out alive, so you have to balance quality of life, and
length of life issues. SOMETHING is going to 'get you' eventually. :(

Hmmm. I haven't tried buying my wife stuff like that. The unspoken rule is that I run the
all the yard tools, chain saw, pressure washer, string trimmer. The one exception, when it is
starting easily, is the leaf blower to blow the grass off of her beloved John Deere 425 tractor
with a belly mower. She does great things with JD. The leaf blower isn't starting, I need to
pull the carb off and clean it out.....again. We have been using real gas ONLY for about a year
and a half, but there is still residual damage and gunk showing up with some of the small
engines from the damned ethanol.

And I am very pleased to continue to hear very happy results from knee replacements....although
almost all are from folks with severe, often 24/7 knee pain. My one nervousness comes from the
fact that I have no knee pain while sitting or sleeping, and can get around pretty well most of
the time. It would be a no brainer if the pain was there all the time. One biggie is that I
can't make a bike work any more, and that was my primary serious cardio exercise all summer.
THAT is not good. And my backup rowing machine is getting difficult, too, plus walking for
long periods (like the gun show yesterday) causes soreness and it is worse the next morning.
Stiff this AM, but not in continuous pain.....so my wobbling a bit on the decision. I am 99.9%
going to do it, but wish it were more clear cut.

Happy father's day guys !

Been taking aspirin for everything for a long time . Sometimes a headache , low back and a couple of other victims of a well spent youth need a little more help .
Took a little Naproxen many yr ago for a knee that turned out to have blown ligaments . Burns a little in the summer heat still . The aspirin covers that most of the time .

I hesitate to post, Mod's if it's incorrect to do so, feel free to delete

CBD oil from Hemp is known as a anti-inflammatory.
This is a long story, but I'll make it short.
I was refered to CBD oil and procured a sample and started taking small doses (10mg twice a day) last November after a meniscus tear (knee) incident a month earlier and it's been a game changer. I still take the same dosage today. While my knees are worn out, and will have to have replacements someday, They feel better now then before the incident last November...I was taking OTC pain meds before the CBD oil, but was able to quit them after a few weeks on the CBD. Side effects have been, I have less anxiety (I am more calm) and I snore less while sleeping and sleep throughout the nights much better than before.

I try not taking anything for knee problem. Besides the clicktey clack I get slight pain down stream from the cap after walking a ways or standing on one leg for a while. Elastic brace helps when I expect hard duty - just for stability and safety. Doc prescribed tramadol that I will take when it is really bad. Ascetomeniphin to keep arthur away. Knees are made to bend only one way and not take high impact - walking 2 mi and bowling 3 games after the injury doesn't help. But we're all young and stupid at times. Went to the knee doc recently, expected recovery isn't too bad but I'll put it off until the artery in the other leg regrows or gets replaced. I can make it 1/2 mile with only a couple stops - Estes park for the 50th party probably will make me change my mind.

Decided to get myself a Father's Day gift so I bought another drill index from toolguys2. It's a Huot also, designed to hold metric drills from 1mm to 12mm in .5mm increments. Getting a lot of work lately in metric units requiring metric size drilled holes so for $85 shipped maybe I can get ahead of the curve a little.

If you aren’t planning ahead then you are already behind.

If you haven’t noticed we are all pretty excited about the new shop Keith. Might be a bit of envy?

I'm pretty excited too but it's gone on so long for so many reasons that I have to adopt a phlegmatic point of view and be patient lest I burn/stress out. Right now I am trusting my contractors to be professional and do their job properly while I do MY job, which is making sure the parts roll out the door and the checks come in the mail. Delivered some parts yesterday that were machined from A2 tool steel and C182 copper. Haven't worked with much copper, it machines beautifully. I shot a video of the last stage of the process on the CNC lathe, when I get a chance I will make it a Youtube video and post a link if anyone is interested in seeing it.

I have read that copper can be gummy. Was that your experience?
Brass is amazing to machine but is too easy pensive for me to very much.

And yes Keith, you have a different take on your new shop. You have to keep going with what you have until you move. We will be excited for you.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Ya know, I haven't tried aspirin for my knee issues. The Naproxin helps, but my wife and daughter both have me pretty skittish about taking it in 600mg doses. The constant, never ending pain that only lowers to a dull ache at best is getting to me. I think we have plain old aspirin someplace around here. We stopped using it in the 80's when the wonder stuff in caplets and gel caps came on the market. I think I'll give it a try. It can't hurt.

My thoughts on the CBD oil, with no slight or insult or judgement towards anyone else that uses it. If someone prescribed it to me, as in a Dr and from a pharmacy, I might try it. As it is, I'm not buying something off a rack at a gas station that is sold next to the rolling papers. No offense to anyone, but I spent 20 plus years fighting the people that are pushing this the hardest. If it works for anyone, that's great. It's not for me until it's cleared as effective by some outfit with more gravitas than Rolling Stone or High Times magazines. And yes, I know by then it will cost 25 times as much!

I didn't buy the 72" x 7/8" dia copper rod, it was supplied by the contractor. One online source lists it for $167.50 plus shipping. It is ductile but just like soft aluminum if you use sharp tools and reasonable feeds and speeds it machines nicely. I use flood coolant so keeping things cool is no problem. I had enough copper for 13 pieces (the order was for 12) so given my lack of experience I didn't try to push things too much. All 13 pieces came out fine so I gave the extra one to the contractor, nice to know I had a backup piece in case I screwed one up. At $13 each just for material these things aren't going to be cheap. (This is the job that nobody wanted to touch so my contractor doubled my bid price and his and we got the job. And we delivered it at a competitive price and in 3 weeks instead of 16-20 weeks.)
