It is a shame the small-town local AM stations in many areas are going away. Usually they are replaced by canned programming that is not worth listening to.

Right now I’m listening to Gun Talk on WZFG 1100 in Fargo, ND. Enjoyable to listen to them while I’m at the reloading bench.

The Icom 7300 and 288’ wire at 50 feet sure help to bring in the distant stations. Of course, propagation makes things interesting.

AM radio was always interesting . On the road trip that took me to Calgary BC when we came back through American Falls Idaho the only station we could get was KOMA from OKC .

I'm not really showing my age but 60 miles SE of Reno we still listened to KFI 640 and Mighty 690 with Wolfman Jack in HS from about an hour after dark until about an hour after sunrise . I don't recall the milage 600 miles or so . Both had 50,000 watt transmitters in Tijuana . In 83-84' they both went talk radio . I kind of lost interest after that .

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Got a mess of yard work yesterday. More of the same today I suppose.

I used to listen to WKBW out of Buffalo and a Boston station at night when I was in Cherry Point NC. I used to ride nights listening to stations out of Nashville, Cincinnati and Philly. That's a long ways.

SE Kansas
WLS out of Chicago back in the 50's~60's. For some reason that station would be one of the clearest at night clear down here in SE KS.

WLS is also what I listened to back in the 50's & 50's. Their signal carried much further than KS, sometimes at night could still get it driving to the west coast crossing into CA.

WLS & XERF (Actually in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico - quite a story there) could be heard all over the US. KOMA was another but lower power. Zenith Trans Oceanic was dang good as was the Natonal 38 and of course the Hammerlaud.
Get to try to take the front end off her auto to fix the washer bottle leak. She wont like me disconnecting the battery to prevent bags going off. Rant - auto designers are really nasty peole. Why not put the audio/control section as modular in the dash, AC/heater where the glove box IS (who uses it anymore when center console works as well?) Engine stuff behind the steering wheel? As a kid I thought I'd try the GM design award entry. You get this boilerplate wheelbase, etc., plan and draw the vehicle of your choice. Just about to submit, then realized - just cheap labor and ideas!! They almost all look like starwars trooper helmets today anyway. About puked when I saw the cheif designer for the new mustang go off about how 'pretty' the dash and body lines were!

Well a bit late since it was yesterday but this coal cracker tried his hand at making New Mex green chili with pork!
I has some pork shoulder and a whole bunch of Big Jim roasted peppers ! The only thing I didn't have or can't get around here is "Mexican Oregano"!
Other then that, I had everything required & by supper time I was in heaven! Nice warm wheat tacos and big plates of Real Chili

Went to the Market this morning and scored another pork shoulder at a reduced price! Guess what is going to happen to that one!;)

9lbs... no wonder she was having trouble keeping him in there.
I think that turkey I shot 2 weeks back barely made 9 lbs.

I think I'm gonna head over towards the Idaho Wyoming state line this afternoon to try my luck on deer.
it's in behind the area I was back packing into before all the 4 wheeler guys found the old mine road and stirred everything up so bad making time trial laps.
that's what I'm thinking anyway, my body says go back to sleep for another day, But the SIL has today off and has to work the rest of the week.
