Congratulations Ian! Stellar news.

Well, today I agreed to do something i haven't done in a few years- pay someone else to fix a truck. It feels dirty but rest assured I will be smiling while they are working.

Thank you all so much, really it means a lot. Just for you Brad...20191014_153849.jpg

He's getting a blood sugar boost IV and he scratched his face with the port cap while nursing but he's doing great for a week and a half early and only a few hours old. He had to come out today because fluid was over double what it should be and he was quite thoroughly baked anyway.

Now that it's finally cool enough to go after pigs again and get some blood on the LR-308, I kinda got my hands full. Ya'll enjoy the hunt for me and keep the reports coming!

Well a bit late since it was yesterday but this coal cracker tried his hand at making New Mex green chili with pork!
I has some pork shoulder and a whole bunch of Big Jim roasted peppers ! The only thing I didn't have or can't get around here is "Mexican Oregano"!
Other then that, I had everything required & by supper time I was in heaven! Nice warm wheat tacos and big plates of Real Chili

Went to the Market this morning and scored another pork shoulder at a reduced price! Guess what is going to happen to that one!;)
Funny you should post this. Picked up 6# of pork shoulder, a bunch of tomatillos, poblanos, jalapenos etc. Chili Verde tomorrow.

I had some chicken chile verde some time back that was done in an Instant Pot and it was great. The extra heat of cooking under pressure knocked the bite out of the extra-hot jalepenos and broke down the lectins in the tomatillos and peppers so it was especially gut-friendly to me! Fast too, I think it was a 16 minute recipe. You guys are making me hungry!

well day err mile 247 of legging it through the mountains.
kicked a pair of bucks up out of their beds, but had absolutely no shot at either one as they cut through the scrub oaks.
kind of glad I didn't, since me and the Boy was about 4 miles back in there and on the opposite side of the ridge from the fairly easy way down on an old logging road.

we dropped down off that ridge and picked Littlegirl up at the waterhole and went down to the truck to get a drink and try another draw.
her husband come down to watch the hole, and we went down lower to a little water seep I know.
the boy decided he wanted to go on some sort of nature hike on his own on the ridge above us so I dropped her off at the little spring and I went up through some short pines to some lodge pole pine trees to still hunt through the grass there.

that was also a no go, I seen the boy coming off the ridge he went over, so I went around and snuck up on him, then hit him in the back with a small rock while growling sort of like a bear.
good thing he didn't have a rifle [and was wearing thick under drawers]
nobody had seen anything either so we turned the truck around before it was totally dark and come home.
I wasn't too excited about driving back out of that canyon in the dark anyway, I was locked in 4wd about half way up and there are some serious drop offs your riding the edge of your tires on.
the snow and mud didn't add in any confidence, but sure added to the pucker factor.

"Spring cleaning" some more today in the race shed and tractor Hut(German, don't know how to add those little dots over the U).

Now,exactly which spring could cause some discussion.....being,2019 or 2020? I'm pleading '20. Gorgeous weather here,in any case.

Good lookin' biscuits, In the shop. My wife decided she'd try making English Muffins yesterday. Now I think I'm ruined on store bought. I never knew they get grilled before they get baked.IMG_2723.jpg
