Well it ain't much better in Texas right now, the cold wind hit about an hour ago and cold rain is blowing sideways, went from 69 to 42 in an hour. Hope you remembered it's Veteran's Day.

Ordered a new 3X5 Betsey Ross tea stained flag today, and it seemed fitting for Veterans Day. The old one was done. It's going on the newly rebuilt side porch. We're having a bunch of folks coming for Thanksgiving and want to have a new flag for the occasion. One of wifeypoo and my favorite places is Berkeley plantation, site of the first Thanksgiving. Google it..... gorgeous property that we tour every cpl years.

I pulled the Stars & Stripes down just before lunch due to weather. What's that white stuff, John?

An often, way too easy to forget law in Williamsburg Va throughout the 1770's,
and I'm paraphrasing;

Not only are you as a resident of our town, required to feed folks entering the capital city..... but,you had better take it seriously.

I was a little late lowering "Old Glory". She was frozen stiff when I and my youngest took her down a few hours ago. She's hanging in the laundry room thawing and drying out.
First time in 35 years I've not had the flag up on Veteran's Day.:sigh:

I saw what was coming and decided to leave Old Glory inside. A bit depressing but I couldn't do that to her.

Woke up to a dusting of snow, enough to make the morning commute a mess. It was accompanied by low temps and enough wind for zero windchills.
A nice day it was not

Marie is flying home right now, over NE/WY border. The ground is solid white. 40 days until Winter Solstice. Global warming--right.

I got up about 6:30 this morning to 57° and a hint of rain coming ..... 33 and falling the high was 58 about 7:05 .

Worked on the carport into loading room thing today all preexisting parts . I put Ms's gimpy boy on the saw . His hips were not great on his arrival in the world and a teen car accident wrecked his ankles so he's 28 and hobbles around like he's 3 times that . He did well I'm pleased with that actually . It saved me making all of the clean up cuts and repetitive cuts to length . 2 walls with a 32" door and 3 windows plus cutting out a welded eve post . I had to drive both walls into place under the eve header ....... I'm not too sure about how much strength was left in the damaged 1×1×1/8 times 2 post , but I think that the 2 story load bearing , load carry through , styled wall with 2×4 laminated to more or less 3 4×6 posts should hold it for another 25-30 years . I'll finish the salvage siding tommorow if .......while it's above 40°.
Then get it insulated so I can get the broken down Reloading room out of the living room along with the deep freeze and 2nd fridge . This will free up a 14×16 living room and a coat closet and in load the raised wood floors by a factor of ......... I'd rather not say but you can imagine when the list on calibers under 50 you don't have a mould for is shorter than those you do have . The new room is 4" concrete so no load worries I hope .
Getting Ms and her boy up and moving I think really helped them , they've been beaten up with sinus allergies for a week .

My 3 Vets very much appreciate the appreciation for their service humbly as I appreciate those that served with and before them .

Scratch chicken soup for dinner tonight that really did the trick for knocking the chill off . Ms is a right fine cook I just wish she would put about half as much on my plate when she serves before I get set down .

the shallower middle section of the lake had thawed out.
talked to a couple friends of mine that was down there fishing too, one had walked out on the ice last week and talked to a couple of guys out there Ice fishing.
I tried talking him into trying it again today,,, no-go jose.... LOL

they had caught a couple of fish before I got there and was just about ready to go so they told me to just fish right there.
I tossed out and had one on about the time my bait hit bottom, I could tell it was a pretty fair fish right off when I seen it swirl on top right after I set the hook.
I got it up near shore and Vaughn grabbed the net real quick, I told him the net wasn't necessary the fish looked to only be maybe 3.5-4 lbs.
I got it in and unhooked it then asked if they wanted it before I released it, they both declined since only one of them wanted a fish for dinner and already had one.
so back it went.
we discussed deer hunting and some bullet casting stuuf for about 20 minutes before they started picking up their gear.
I got another bite and they hung out to watch me fight it in when I said this was a lot bigger fish, it took me 6-7 minutes to work it up in near the shore and once again Vaughn grabbed for the net.
I told him no again this one would just stay in the water and I'd de-hook it or break my line off at the knot in the water.
they both figured this one went 6lbs or maybe a bit more, I agreed when I picked it's head up to get my hook back and got a good look at it on the edge of the shore, it was a bit fatter but not quite as long as the one I caught last fall.
I figured that was enough for one day too and headed on over to Littlegirls place to have dinner, and help the SIL hang the door we had taken down earlier today so he could cut the hinge recesses properly.
