Went to the local gun show & found a ideal/lyman 45 sizer in like new condition for 25 bucks w/309 die & top punch. Don't need it, but couldn't leave it eather.
Went back to a table after getting more money to purchase a BRAND NEW still in plastic bags bench-source case annealing machine for one hundred bucks, but it was gone!! Ill be asking anyone to kick me for a long time.
He did sell me 3 bricks of pmc "target"
22 lr for 45 bucks, and tossed in a Thunder Ranch hat. His former place of employment.

The previous owner of this house had a "pit" installed in the garage, so no ramps for me.
I've seen a ramp let go when the driver hit the breaks hard.
Floor jacks, & stands get used when tires change axles here.

:headscratch:Any reason why, one can't use a jack stand or floor jack, in conjunction with a set of ramps? Safety is definitely a concern, just have to be smart about it.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I don't mind ramps at all, assuming I've looked them over. Jacks and jack stands are fine for somethings, ramps are better for others. As someone else said, I like ramps built up out of planking, and a good 16" wide. Those were the best ramps I ever used, even if they did weight a ton. I should build a set. I like pits too but I don't gots wunna them. I really like 4 post lifts in a warm garage with a working toilet and nice concrete floor. Don't got's wunna them either. Someday maybe. Oldest boy gets real hincky under cars and up ladders. He's my safety Nazi. Nothing is ever sturdy enough.

Got the Christmas tree in the house. Youngest girl kid decorated part of the outside of the house while Mom was gone picking up grand daughter. Kinda nice seeing it lit up again. I have a silo that I've always wanted to string some lights on, but it's 90 or 100 feet tall and I'm not so hot at climbing anymore. If I could get someone to hang a pole and pulley up there I could fly a flag most of the year and run some lights up for Christmas. #4692 on my list of top 10,000 things to do!

Dad made a pair of ramps from 2" x 12"s. Glued them together, cut the ramp, then put a couple of bands of plumber's tape around to prevent splitting under load. On the side, where the plumber's tape joined he fastened a loop of rope for handles. They were heavy, but 50 years later are probably still being used by someone.

It's been a long time since shooting heavy "varmint barrels",and got plenty of them. Give me a stainless 24" magnum profiled "sporter" any day of the week and twice on Sunday. They work so well, and FAST off of X bags that I rarely use anything else. But,have never had that good of performance with these off bipods. Instead, use crossed N lashed together shooting sticks.

The reason is balance. Nothing new,BR competitors live for bag ride and balance is the prime directive towards that end.

The Junkyard Sendero, with it's factory (freeby off some other model),albeit stiff stock,is about as NOT balanced as it gets. And this is before hanging a 26" varmint barrel on it,and the flutes only help a little here..... The hollow butstock, sorta heavy/stiff forearm, only exacerbates the problem. It is not liking the X bags. Gonna change gears a bit and start testing off a Harris bipod. My other HB rigs behave very nicely off them..... groups off the X bags aren't bad per se,but it just isn't balanced like a sporter.

The rig,"wants to shoot"...... like a racehorse in the starting gate. I checked the factory '68 trigger and it's a tick over 3#. So while it ain't lite enough, not gonna use that as an excuse. Scope too..... yes,it could be a 6-18 of better $$ but the 10X that's on it IS straight,so again,no excuse. Load development is,or might as well be,in the fast lane. Gonna dig around, find a rear bag in inventory and start blasting off a bipod.

definitely the buy of the weerr month for sure.

finally got the girl home last night about 7pm or so airc.
she is on a clear or liquid type diet for the next 2 weeks [no chunky solid stuff]
I bet she drops 20 pounds pretty easy.

I think I'm gonna see if I can get the 200 lb 3'X3' cube of a TV off the shelf in the shop today.
I figure the worst that happens is I drop it [before I get it to the dumpster] and have to replace it with the 5lb flat screen one I found on sale for 99$ yesterday.
between that and the new water heater, my Christmas shopping is 100% complete.
now I gotta cover the gas bill for the year and the property taxes and I can start saving again for 2020's end of the year crisis.

He showed me the receipt. $519. And change.

I got nuthin against solid ramps. I use them often. The ones that have air between the ground & what they are holding up give me the heebee geebies ever since I saw one collapse.

"Scotty,we need more power" or sumthin like that?

Looks like it's Harris'ville (Harris bi pod) for now cause, that was way easier holding on target with today's blasting. For grins,I had dry mopped the bore on "junkyard" pretty durn hard after the last go round. No chemicals, just needed to see how much fouling was building up.

Well, this barrel takes exactly two "foulers" from squeaky clean to get back in its groove. Load development is going in .5g jumps. The group (10@100) went from round the other day to a tighter,if you don't count #1 an 2..... hole. But,it is a horizontal hole indicating that at this load level the seating depth/jam could use a tweak.

I dry mopped again after shooting but only once, and not nearly as hard tight as last time. Gonna add another .5g,and do it again. To confirm,or see if the 2 fouler thing holds up....and,see if the group shape changes with no change to OAL.There was a very slight reduction of blow back soot on necks.

Very pleasant weather. Maybe a 1 or 2 mph breeze,mid 50's,and sunny.

Well, I shot 50 rounds of 9MM loads that I had set aside to test.
125 gr. Mihec hollow points. Part powder coated and part lubed with LBT Blue.
After to smoke cleared, I remembered why I like powder coating so much.

I love the smoke and the lube stars. And how the beeswax attracts the "friendly" desert Africanized honey bees also. Always a thrill.

Smoke isn’t bad unless it involves Alox. Alox based lubes have an odor I just can’t stomach.

when you go past round and vertical and into horizontal, I also think you went beyond optimum with that powder.

Got a text a bit ago that my Granddaughter got her buck. Girl is pretty busy and doesn't have much time to hunt with being a cheerleader, plays on her high school BB team as a freshman, occasional pianist at church and too many other things. She also got a doe during the early doe season. Little Brother has some catching up to do.

Ole, sounds like she has some fine parents. Good parenting is most often passed down through the generations.

A great job. Much well earned pride and praise.

Thanks for that Smokey, my kids were raised here on the farm next door to my folks and Grandparents. My mom had as much to do with how they were raised as my wife and I did. Just tried to continue Mom's approach.
Granddaughters dad is a Aircraft Engineer, so she has many advantages my kids never had.

nothing wrong with that buck at all.
I had to get scrolled across the Pic's rather quickly after seeing that Purple stock, if Littlegirl seen it I'd never hear the end of it.
