Best wishes to all feeling under the weather!

It's 1:59PM and I got everything done I'd planned for the day! Amazing. Chores, checked on a bunch of $$$ related stuff with the bank, found out I'd won an auction for a brand new chainsaw piston and cylinder for a saw I own that is made of unobtainium (it's the only new one I've seen in at least 3 years of searching), got the recyclables to town and into the big green hopper that mixes it up with the standard trash (then why do we have to separate it?!!!!!!), picked up some other stuff in town, got the regular trash taken care of, brought in a load of wood, cleaned the chimney, moved a wagon out of the farm road and back where it was supposed to be, contacted 2 teachers regarding some late work for one of the kids that just doesn't seem to want to go over the internet and took care of some medical stuff for the other kid, cleaned the wood furnace and got the ashes dumped into the manure spreader on top of the 3- 5 gallon buckets of frozen ice and dog poo I shoveled off the lawn as the snow melts ( There are 9 dogs here, I own 1 and he goes in his kennel when I take him out!), restacked a section of the woodpile that tipped over when the ice it was apparently siting on let go and did some laundry too. Not a bad day so far. I even remembered to take my orange drink to keep me "regular" (I call it "Tang" but it's meta-something) and my vitamins and supplements SWMBO keeps buying for me to take. Chances are I'll finish this post and discover I haven't had pants on all day or maybe that i just shoveled the poo off someone elses lawn, but I'm calling it win so far! ;)

Not feeling that well today. Not C19 as I have in and out of the hospital several times since Thanksgiving-tested negative every time. I've been having back problems along with some GI problems. On pain meds that mess with my head. Don't feel like doing anything, feeling fatigued, light headed, difficulty with my balance.
Those pain meds can mess your system up. Been there. Hopefully you can get well enough to get off of them or at least cut down. You will begin my prayers.

With all the issues with the grandkid (surgeries and NICU) a bright light today, as the youngest (of my 5 boys) is home on leave after his Iraq deployment. Haven't seen him since May, so it is not only great to see him, but helps a little with the stress and anxiety we are dealing with regarding the grandkid (who IS doing well, in spite if the surgeries and NICU!).

Golly 462, I can't hold a candle to Bret, he is just a machine!

Seemed busy all day getting the roof finished on the sugar shack. Then took the bucket off the tractor and put on the forks to move the syrup arch to the cook shack. Made a run to town to get enough stove pipe to go up through the roof plus another 5 ft. so it will draw well.

Every project involves getting all equipment, tools, and supplies out, but also cleaning up and putting everything away afterward. Go go go and all of a sudden you realize the sun angle is getting lower, your back hurts, and you're running out of energy.

Just got back from town BTW .
Stopped by the local mower place to get a carb kit and primer bulb for the old briggs. He has a 08 Excersion with 147k
It is his parts and mobile service unit.

I believe the 08 4 cylinders do not fall into the infamous "exploding transmission category".

Which should not be an issue anyway because he has service records and the transmission has been serviced twice, at 60k and 120k almost on the nose
The oil was changed every 10k religiously at the dealer. Everything in the service schedule was done right on time every time. New tires like 500 miles ago.

Only issues is Ohio rust in the rear wheel lips and it has a tool rack set up mounted in the back, and vinal company logo on the doors, but I know how to remove those, used to be a body man.

Any how here I ramble again

To make a long story short we like it. In two weeks when his new service vehicle arrives back from getting it set up. He said he would deal with us, if we had not found something he likes by then. He said he might let it go for $3800 I am thinking $3700.

So while looking at other stuff at least we have a hold card.

This morning's range session was with my most hoot-to-shoot rifle, .45-70 rolling block. Took two loads, the Lee 457-350 and 14-grains of Unique, and the Lyman 457193 405-grainer and 20-grains of 2400. Fun stuff.

My local friend and occasional shooting pard brought his new Howa .223 mini-action, but he had yet to load any ammo, so I gave him 10 rounds of one of my accuracy loads. He was smiling a lot!

F-head 134? I rebuilt one of those once, had a muuuuuurderous time getting the rope rear main seal to quit leaking, turns out they have to sit a few days and swell.

we had a big row of those little 4 cyl's in our H.S. shop, all painted different colors.
we'd tear them completely down [water pumps, carburetor's, fuel pumps, etc] and put them back together, then fire them up.
then we'd drain all the fluids back out and push them back against the wall.

some of the eggs I got from Littlegirl were finally pickled, so I made egg salad sandwiches for lunch.
I cut everything up and mixed it together [based on what was in the fridge] for the kids since they were out doing something on the front porch.
this of course started a fight, because the boy wanted to know why my sandwiches were good, and his sister's sucked.
he probably won't be getting lunch from her for a few day's now... LOL.

Who cares if it is fast.
I get tired seeing guys throwing a V6 with an adapter plate in those.
Nice to see some one actually taking the time and getting the original equipment up and going. Enjoying it for what it is.
Maybe you could post a pick once you get it together some more.
Some one has to make up for all the old 6 cylinder cars I gutted and threw a 350 or a 351 in.

I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler in one of my bays currently, it has a 6BT Cummins turbodiesel, complete with intercooler, and NV4500 transmission shoehorned into it. Funny thing is, all the computers work. The dash is factory but I don't know what they did with the HVAC box because there are two cylinders where it used to be, and a very nicely modified firewall pocket.

I put a fuel-injected 4.3L and 4L-60 in my FIL's CJ, threw the "Iron Duke" and Renault/Peugeot 4-speed in the scrap metal pile where they both belonged and didn't feel a damned bit bad about it. Now the Willys? They are perfect the way they were made, top speed of 45 with your hair on fire, but will creep up a wall in 4lo/2nd gear.

My best friend father, in my school years, had a 49 Jeep, with the fiberglass top. IIRC, it was a sort of dark blue green, with a white top. Kept that until, they bought a Jeepster Commando. Precursor to the Cherokee. It had a very tiny rear seat, between the wheel wells. Spent a lot of my HS years, in that vehicle. That, and a 69 Chevy C-10 with a six and three on the tree.

The ducks got out yesterday . Grazed the neighbors yard . All the precipitation turned their pen into a mud pit . A little waddle/ dusting/nest dimple became a walk through on the low corner of the pond . Back filling the whole corner as we go now . I'm thinking I need to build some sort of grazing pen and mow the back half with them .

I've got 2 Willys CJ's with the F head and a much later Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler with the straight 6. Those old F heads ( the F head isn't the flat head, that's the L head, which never made sense to me) seem to run forever with no more care than keeping some oil in them. My plow Jeep is a rust haters nightmare and most people would run away if offered a chance to drive it. The other one needs a clutch but the engine runs like little sewing machine. That one has a steel cab with doors and windows, all working and probably on there since 1959. That one is definitely in the "savable and probably easy to make road worthy category". Just time, effort and $$$ stand in the way. The Scrambler is likely as close to a sports car as I'll ever own. I hope to get to work on it after the old 59 is repaired. All it really needs is some fiberglass work on the Acme Hardtop and new door latches. I really need a larger garage! Nice to see others here share the interst in these old standbys. They were not, IMO, the perfect family vehicle, but as a 2nd car/runabout they were great.

Just a bit of a milestone for me this morning: It has been two weeks since I went on NS and today I have lost a total of 10 lbs!
Didn't even know I was dieting! Eat the food loose the weight....Hey maybe they can start using me on TV instead of Marie Osmond!

Well started my day a 3am waking up HOT. My boiler decided it was going to run with all zones open and not shut off with the thermostats. So here I sit after doing a restart of the burner to see if the electronic brain reset properly.
