I bedded some new Leupold double-offset bases on my Model 70 this morning (still waiting on rings to arrive), then tore into the Mossberg MVP to inspect the bedding, polish the bolt and raceways, and lubricate it. Also pulled the factory scope bases to degrease, bed, and retorque them, then installed a brand-new Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 scope with some ridiculously overbuilt Warne rings from the spare parts drawer. Took the wife and baby for supper in town, ran a couple errands, now I'm procrastinating a cleanup of the gun room so I can make room for the RCBS dipper pot that's been sitting in a box for several weeks now. Also need to shorten the handle on my replacement Rowel ladle and rub some BLO on the wood. What I REALLY need to do is get busy on my shooting shack, at least get some posts in the ground and a roof on it, it's been around 100 every day with no clouds and looks like it probably won't let up until October, so if any shooting is to be done this summer, particularly with open sights, I'm going to need a roof. Electricity, walls, and AC too if time/money permits.
