It is hot and humid today (normal for Florida in July) but it was the first day it hasn't rained in 2 weeks.
I went to the range and shot a few patterns fire forming cases in my new Ruger #1 30-30.
It made 108* today. Marie and I estivated in the A/C all day, and rather than heat up the house with cooking and baking we elected take-out barbecue at Dickie's. Profanely expensive, but it was payday--so what the heck.
Sucks, big time. Wet and wetter, flooded my shop, just some water coming in, not a big deal, but...... Flood warnings. And on top of all that, some leaves starting to turn yellow.
Winters coming Jon Snow.
Jet stream dropped down below the Colombia Saturday, so back to "normal" summer temperatures low 90's and low 50's. Much better than that 105+ and 75+ of last week.
That "unpronounceable name" storm is coming up the East coast and will hit us tomorrow! Making plans to do a lot of casting starting in the morning tomorrow!
Seems like alloy cast the best during rain storms and this will be a duzy! Got everything set and my pot full of ingots!
First off will be the NOE 175 Ranch dog 8 mm because..... I'm plain out of that one! Need to get 500 or so to get me through the rest of the summer!
They are the top shooter in my GEW98
The last 3 days have been quite nice here--low 90s for highs, nighttimes in high 50s. Pleasant to live with, but it screws up dove season something awful--and this happens EVERY AUGUST here. Cooler weather chases the birds south, esp. the larger white-winged turtledoves. They were all over the Coachella and Imperial Valleys last month (when it was 110*-115*). Next week, we'll take a road trip to Wister Unit by the Salton Sea and see how things are shaping up bird-wise.
Some of our trees are starting to turn colors also. THAT is about a month ahead of schedule.
Well it's official. This summer is the wettest on record for the interior of Alaska.
It's been very beautiful but we have experienced thunderstorms for a couple of hours every day. Usually in the late afternoon with a good part of the day pretty nice. Cooler than normal by about 10* all summer as well. My garage/shop has flooded (only about an inch or so up front) five or six times this summer. Rivers are running bank to bank. Even my mushrooms are growing mushrooms.
85* with T-storms rolling through....threatening winds, rain, and hail.....or so the weather man says....looks threatening but the storms haven't hit yet.
9 years ago when i was working on buying this place a good friend that had retired to Texas tried mightily to get me to move there. For a real solid reason why that was completely out of the question just look at your picture there in post #477.
