What is your weather today?

Woke to low 60's and rain. Supposed to rain all day. We need a good steady 24 hr. rain....it has been a dry summer. Forecast highs in the mid 70's not altogether unpleasant.

Cool this morning as I write this, 37* and a breeze. Hope fiver didn't get much snow this morning. Well, at least it will let the firefighters get some more containment around the Evan's Canyon fire.

Yesterday was another 90 degree day, making two in a row and two too many, and the smoke got heavier as the day went on. Though it's not visibly snowing ash, quite a bit has accumulated the last few days.

Lots of high altitude smoke, this morning, and the high temperature guess is 79.

it's just a skiff of snow,
the problem is the cold temps, it just burns down the more delicate, and heat loving plants.

fiver,
I can't believe your weather turned so fast! Having a garden in your area seems like a nightmare! Good you have a greenhouse! You made need a few more! Want to send you some good Aleppo chili seeds! Got good pure seed this year Have some frozen for you!

Hot. Dry. Wild fires creeping in on us from two sides. Level 2 evacuation notices just a handful of miles from me. High winds are not helping.

I can't do peppers in the green house.
they go kind of weird in there for some reason, kind of like they get a fungus on them.
I think if I drug them in and out every day they'd really do great because I have done that with a couple of egg plants, but I'm not gonna haul 30 plants in and out every day.

I'm debating on building a larger poly tunnel type thing and just planting right in the ground inside it, or doing a few more long boxes with the plastic lids.
I see quite a few different types of setups around town some of them are in pretty decent shape, but most of them are pretty tattered up if they are plastic.
it seems like the high UV light and the negative winter temps tear them up in short order.

Just search online for setting up a grow house? There is an entire “industry” based upon it.

yeah,,, but they happen to be as well stocked as 9mm ammo right about now.
seeds are gonna be in short supply next year too, I been looking already but everyone has sent this years stock back.
gardening is suddenly the cool 'in thing' to do this year.

Living on a yellow planet, today. Heavy smoke has made for an eerie yellow, dark and dreary day. Inside lights are required for reading, parking lot and street light sensors are confused, and birds are sleeping. Very weird . . . This is the worst I've seen.

My son sent this, this morning, along with a video of a sideways blowing ash blizzard.

My daughter lives just south of Springfield/Eugene OR. She's been sending me updates all day, She's right on the edge of the evacuation areas. Mighty, mighty bad situation.
