Good for you Ian! Best of luck in the new job and with the TJ. Sure wish gas was that low here. We're just under $5.00 locally. Should be over that by Memorial Day.

Fiver, some of the modern carbs come set so lean they barely run. Chainsaws, lawn mower, leaf blowers, string trimmers, even snowblowers! All in the name of lowering emissions to meet California standards. Insanity.

Cindy was home sick yesterday, and today so far too. I did a mess of inside work for a while and then got the old Deere 1010 crawler/loader/backhoe going. Had to dismount the carb and clean it out as it was full of water, again, from winter I guess. Got her going fine and went to hook up the air cleaner tube. NOPE! She'd die right out. Pulled the oil cup and it was full of water too. So I set the cup on the right hand track and hooked up the tube. You can guess the rest, forgot entirely about the cup! When I backed up it fell open end down and cut a nice donut out of the ground. I might be able to save it if I can get things straight again. Sheesh!

Picked up a mess of gutter parts at Lowes. Not only do they not have bags for you stuff anymore, but they want you to shelf checkout. I'm not thrilled with this move. I think I'll stick to the "Contractors" entrance/exit now. No self checkout there.

Third "bad day" here. Lil sleep and aggravating knee pain. Today probably weather as its cool raining so low pressure. Tuesday was rough therapy day, that lasted threw yesterday.

Monday, I see a surgeon, hopefully to finally arrange the replacement surgery.

CW, Good Luck.
My other knee (non-surgery knee) started hurting yesterday while I was shopping and running errands. I forgot one item while shopping Walmart, and the knee hurt enough, that I wasn't going for that long walk again. Hurt all last night, but is better this morning. The last three days have been filled with projects where I am climbing up and down a ladder. I think that's why the knee is painful.

I haven't bought electrical supplies in a while...Holy crap, have those prices gone up. GCFI circuit breakers are over $50
Metal handy boxes and receptacles and switches, all double or triple from when I did my last electrical project (a year before Covid). I bought a used ceiling fan at a garage sale last year for $2, but is missing two parts (mount and glass shade), both parts are available, but over $10. I bought one and will go without the other. I hope it works? ...and yes, I am putting a ceiling fan in my disconnected, unheated garage...I love ceiling fans. The Electrical inspector came in "blessed" the Electrician's work (new Meter box and connections to my new secondary service panel in the garage).
Now I need to decide if I spend the big bucks for GFCI breakers? or just wire GFCI outlets at the head of every Outlet run? I have a few GFCI outlets that were saved from being trashed at a former jobsite, so those are free, just more work and wiring clutter on my garage wall.

When do the knees stop hurting? Kid is about 90 and 0 deg extension but still hurting. Getting that 90 about did him in but as of now, no more surgery needed, yea. Hope yours goes well CW.
Ian is going to have fun with the nickle plated copper wire. And no kynar insulation! Did a job for shuttle using Rowe in Detroit for cables. Had to get some redone and hire a NASA qual'd solderer. Holding one end of #10 while she soldered the other end. Ouch.

Goal is 135 degrees of flex. Knees stop hurting, eventually. Everybody's different. Mine stopped soon after replacement...........other than the massive 6+ inch incisions. Took over a month to be able to sleep on my stomach............knees flat on bed. I took an average of 14 painkillers with each knee. Just as a sleeping aid. I hate opioids. Of course, us old folks are desensitized.

Playing eye glasses ping-pong with the optometrist, Costco, and whoever does their lens grinding doing their best to frustrate me. Picked up the new glasses this morning, and though they are perfect for distant viewing they are useless for reading. Called the optometrist's office and was told I need to have Costco confirm the prescription and lenses match. Went back to Costco, and was told they match. Called the optometrist's office and scheduled an appointment for tomorrow. Costco called and said if I'm not satisfied they'd issue a refund.

I've been wearing glasses for 25 years, and with each new prescription there has been a disconnect with either the prescription or the lens grinder.

Rained heavy here this AM. Cindy felt up going in to work about 9:30. I tried working outside, got soaked. Came in and did paperwork. Ended up online and got a new seat set for my Deere 1010, both the main seat and the for the backhoe. No more sitting on a 2x12 or on the remains of a 60 year old vinyl seat that mostly consists of wet sponge rubber and sharp rusty bits of steel! I'm living high on the hog! After lunch I decided I had to get going on the nags. Grabbed 3 halters and gave them a mess of hay. One gelding was dead easy to halter and deal with. The mare was a little harder but workable. The other gelding was an idiot about the whole thing. You would have thought I was trying to put a mountain lion on his back with the antics he went through. I out patienced him eventually and slid the halter on. loose tied them all (just a few wraps of rope around the pipe rail and went to brushing. The 1st gelding, "Phineas", was great, loves attention and being handled. I even got the main mat out of his tail! Managed to try on a collar I had on hand too. The mare, Candice, was a bit witchy, but okay. I got her brushed down pretty good. The other gelding, "Ferb", was an idiot again. I did the "patience is a virtue" thing and got some co-operation after a while. I didn't push it, the goal is willing horses, not submissive horses. Pretty new age thinking for an old fart like me, eh? I'll repeat tomorrow for another 45 minutes or an hour, and every day that I can. Been a while since I went though this routine and I should have done this before. Funny how when I had help I had no time, but now that I'm alone I can find the time. Weird.

Why am I doing this? Because I FINALLY found some Haflinger sized harness in good shape at a good price. It's clear over on the far side of Vermont, but I can drive a long ways for a good deal. I have these guys here, fuel is getting criminally high and I need the mare straightened out so I can get her bred this summer. Horses are stupid, STOOPID high now!!! I'm sure you guys don't know or care, but what was a $1500-2500.00 horse 5 or 6 years back is a $5-8000.00 horse now! There used to be "urine lines" in Canada that needed bred mares to capture the urine and make some sort of medicine, a hormone maybe. Well, they don't do that anymore so all those foals don't exist. Draft horses were the preferred breeds for that work as they pee an enormous amount per day. All gone now. Supply and demand, again.

Well my day is shot. Definitely not making it to work tonight. Took the wife to local Stat care for a routine test. Test showed something not expected. The want tests they can not do there. Rather then just have our doctor order them. So now just drove to the ER in the Hospital 35 miles the other way for more tests. They took us in to admitting then put us back in the lobby, so now we wait.
All for what could just be a stone that's passing or a intestinal blockage.
We are kinda hoping that the stone she has been bugged with for a over a year is finally passing.
Trouble is my wife has so many underlying issues we just can not take something for granted. Everytime we do, ends up, we should not have.
Now my Weekend is shot, because I had to call into work and switch today to Saturday. I have to put in 55 hrs this week by Sunday at 5am or get call off points. I am at 35.
Wife is more important but need to keep job to pay bills. Unfortunately I am the only one out of all my associates with in 30 miles that drives and is not at work at the moment.
If only my son could have got into the early drivers Ed class but he won't have his licence for another 3 months in the least .
Life can be just a big ole pain sometimes.

I spent a couple of hours reading from various sources last night about hard shifts and failure to engage gears in the 92 with the E4OD . Ok I get efficiency and lock up with the speed and throttle position I can even see manifold pressure but if you have those why does it need an input from the from the EGR valve .
Oh yeah while that was all very helpful with troubleshooting , more so if I had an OBD I for the truck , but that does nothing to account for ATF drips off the EGR valve and intake manifold or the spray on the right side inner fender . The transmission pressure sensor reads off the oil cooler line pressure ........with a sensor in a perfectly logical location . I mean why wouldn't it be on the right hand side of the intake manifold under the throttle body right next to the EGR fed off a line in the top of the radiator attached to the transmission cooler with a push lock connector on a flex line to a hard line across the radiator into another flex line to the dead end sensor ....... Makes perfect sense I'm sure ....... To anyone else . Do you think this little jem is available ? You know the one with the pin hole and a skin split in the right hand end ? No , no it's not . Why because mine is probably only the 4th one to fail since factory support stopped back in 03' . When that let's go you lose all the forward drive gears 2 hills from home at 12:30 in the morning .

How much pressure is on that line at peak pressure ? This is one of those questions that doesn't have an answer on the web otherwise it would have been mentioned alongside the bad EGR position sensor causing hard shifts .

Taking Ms truck to Alpena for a boys weekend and to shoot a bunch of BP and forget about a whole lot of crap for 3.5 days .

my entire day consisted of trying to make the screen door on the back of the garage stop slamming open and closed.
no i didn't go buy new parts.
but it did manage to break some cheap pieces of string and light rope in the process before i finally went and got a chunk of paracord out of the shed and tied it to a screw i put above the door.

Best of luck and praying for the best Emmitt. (Not sure how you spell your name) That job of yours sounds like a pretty crappy place to work, hope the $ is decent!

ETA- glad to hear it wasn't serious!

Time to hit a junk yard? Parts that are unobtainable seem to be more common these days. One guy I watch out in Avoca NY has a real good junk yard, (I think they call it an "auto dismantler") nearby. He's always going out and getting OEM parts that aren't in the system anymore. It figures though- stop suppoting and item and you'll be more likely to go buy a new vehicle!

Another grey day here. No clue what I'll be up to today, outside of the horses. I overheard a conversation my wife was having last night. Sounds like my oldest daughter may have finally found a house to make an offer on. Somehow, based on our history, that sounds like something I'm going to be heavily involved in! But, that's what dads are for, right?

Just a wild thought that has nothing to do with shooting or casting, just something else I am in the process of hunting for. Does anyone have any experience with those electronic bill board type signs? Like you'd see in front of a fire dept or church? Our little town office has a 3'x5' or so bill board that uses the old 4" high letters you have to put in the top and bottom grooves. Very limited as far as what can be displayed. I have been looking at the wireless electronic boards but don't know what we'd need. I want something the aged Town Clerk can program from inside the building, that is lighted and meant for outdoor use in extreme weather. Anyone have any input or knowledge on this?
