Ole270,
What state are you gun hunting deer in? I wasn't aware of a state with firearms deer this early.

Checked traps today and was on my way home, when the wife sent me a text of the location of an estate sale on my way. She really just wanted me to see if it was worth going, to save her a trip. Lots of old tools, and they wanted stuff gone. Misc. boxes of stuff for a dollar each. The ladies had several tables in the garage, and just happened to have some pewter. Pot was marked $5, and I offered $3, she accepted and said don't forget the cups that go with it (they were covered up with some drapes that had fallen on them). Bought a bucket of misc. rope for a dollar too. Seems I use alot of rope.View attachment 17142
For sure that is the best way to get tin, I like to watch auction sites like etsy, find a lot of good deals for pewter, beats 20 bucks a pound from rotometals, don't get me wrong they have the best metal and I buy most of my alloy metals from them but can't beat this stuff...

so far I'm sitting here watching our ''maybe 20 to 30% chance of a-rain for saturday''
drizzle out of the sky accompanied by intermittent winds from the north.

I guess maybe they meant it was going to rain 30% of the day??
so far it's been coming down for around 3 hours so I guess 5 more to go?
hope the bow hunters up there camping in the nice fall weather are enjoying themselves.

Well, the fires have burned up at least 3 of my favorite hunting areas.
All NF land and BLM land is closed to travel as of last week.
We won`t be allowed in the areas affected by the fires until mother nature puts them completely out.
That will be after deer season.

I spend too much time looking at want ads.
I'm not a machinist, and I don't wish to "play" one on the interwebs.
But, check this out, listed on the book of faces this morning,
Free (pick up in Hastings, MN)
South Bend Light 10K Metal Lathe Model B
"This old South Bend lathe needs a home. For real, it's free - just come and get it out of my garage. The belt drive was changed to a tractor transmission - I don't know why, but it runs. I have a post and the change gears. Please give this lathe a good home."

You need that. More valuable stuff for the stockpile.
I bet it had a variable speed motor. When that burnt up it was like hey I have a 3 speed out back, and a single phase 110 motor under the bench. I really need to get this bushing for the tractor finished so I can get in the hay.
Yep. Farm fix. Use what you got to do the best you can.

Trying to load those 50-45 acp cases with the "Win NT" head stamp! They have weird crimped in primer pocket!
I do not have a small primer swage! What a PITA! I used my normal LP counter sink but It wasn't effective!
Had to look through my file collection to find one with the proper taper to the handle end to ream the pockets....By Hand! !
1 hour latter I was able to put primers in them! I think Winchester doesn't want anyone reloading these! Also it is the thinest Winchester brass I ever saw!
When these are shot I'm not picking them up

Dang Chihuahua. He wants something and i can not figure it out. Ran the whole circle of stuff in the little ones itinerary. He is tail and butt waging and jumping around me. Driving me crazy.
I think he........Ahhhhh squirrel on the porch. Guess I need to let him out, so he can tree it.

Yep, squirrel.
Guess I need to take him squirrel hunting, again.
Do not laugh, took out with a buddy, for a joke last year just to mess with him. Told him I had a new squirrel dog. Once he figuresd out what we were doing. He tree'd 6 or 7for us, and chased a few back around the trunk, then actually, brought (maybe the proper term is drug?) them to us. Till he got bored then he just went and laid down by the truck, till we got done.
Course I feed him squirrel right along with the rest of the family.

The other one thinks he is a person and dosent much care to leave the house, sits around a honks a lot, the third is a female toy, I'm pretty sure her brain is no bigger than a peanut, she's a sweetheart and just wants to be loved and bark at the boys and a lot of invisible things but other than that pretty much useless.

Mine usually wants to be involved in what ever me, or my boy, or wife is doing. If no one else is doing much anything, he will ask for me put him on the stand beside the computer table so he can watch me type, like he is right now.
He acts a bit non typical chihuahua at times. Of course he is a mixed with about 1/4 Affenpinscher, but you cannot tell by looking. He looks purebred.

I just got back in from putting tail lights in my truck. The old ones were cracked, letting water in causing the bulbs to keep going bad. Neighbor gave me his old goofy lookin clear aftermarket tail lights when he upgraded his juke truck, again, to halogen-led.
So I guess that's what I am sportin,' at least they are not frosted and cracked. Free is for me, as they say.

the one we have is [I think] part pug, she looks all Chihuahua, but skinnier and longer in the body.
she acts like she weighs 60 lbs. part of the time, and like she is freezing to death the other part.

My buddy (who doesn’t reload) has been complaining pretty loudly about out current national ammunition shortage. He has a new S&W and says that he can’t afford to feed it.

Just did a search on ammoseek.com for 38 special.

Jaw drop!

$0.80 to $2.00 per round

Wow! That’s before tax, and shipping!

What’s really crazy is that these people paying these prices are still leaving their brass on the ground.
