Smokey, the youngest is working on his PHd and it "should" be a cakewalk due to,"working in their research library". He was the one son that took after me with the book passion part,so getting the job in their library was not only serious beer money but it opened doors that most students never see.
Then,he takes it to a whole 'nuther level getting the school hooked up with some pretty cool contacts during his 4 year tenure in their library..... words fall short here. Any way,he's out with a masters living 100 miles away.... working as a history teacher. He got teacher of the year or sum chit. But the biggest part is he's still working part time for,the research library. It's been a win/win relationship....
Interesting side bar, which is funny now... wasn't at the time. He got caught with some "bud" in H.S. and they kick his dumba$$ out at 16. This is a notoriously, white bread uppity school. Turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him, getting kicked out. He finished HS online.... and I made him get a job. He starts working for this pet store and before the year is out he's their fulltime manager. Between salary and kickbacks he was bringing down serious cake at 16. Scores perfect in both categories on his S.A.T. tests and goes off to college, and their library.
So here's to your son and his new chapter, wishing the best of luck.
Visited with college boy yesterday. He likes his first engineering class (aerospace engineer major), initially dealing with digital camera design and function. Something I was involved with for several years of my career.
He got some great classes and good professors and we just found out that he scored a (work-study) job on campus, working in one of the research libraries.
