Spent the morning with my youngest son and oldest daughter today at breakfast . Fussed around with a couple of errands . Got back to Mom's place an moved a little dab of dirt to make a more effective back stop on the hill out back . Then settled down with the oldest granddaughter ,15, to teach some shooting . Having grown up in Lemon Grove CA she just never had access and oppertunity . With the move of my daughter and husband to Texas and having Lily for the summer we have time to fix that ! I don't why but girls just take to this like a duck to water . For personal reasons we started with an iron sighted 22 LR rifle and after a few minutes and some little adjustments she was dinging the 6" plates at 25yd and the 4" regular enough to scare pop cans . We switched her to a Heritage SA 22 LR pistol and in a cylinder she was hitting the 8" plate . It's just not really good enough with whatever the flavor of the week 333 box at Walmart is to do much more than than that and it is just an introduction . All standing off hand as well .
We took a few pictures so maybe I'll get some after while to post .
One minor detail that matters , she's deaf with coclear implants so that mad for a unique hearing protection situation .
The end result was to turn down the exterior part and have her wear plugs . The outer parts have a 96 db cut out . They're not responsive enough for her to hear the bang cling at 25 yd but she could we the swing each time . At 50 yd hearing the clickpop , cling left her with a grin I don't think she will lose for a while .
They will be here a few more days so I'll be able to get some others out for her to shoot before they head back to San Antonio .
It's been 2 years almost since we were all together last .
