What is your weather today?

John G, if the aircraft carrier jet engine blast deflector was supposed to deflect snow away from your property it didn't work too good enough. ;)

82* and humid at 12:30 P.M., 50% chance of rain here today. Rain is already happening east of us in Yucaipa, and we have thunder heads boiling up over the mountains presently. We should get wet in a few minutes.

Around 4:30 pm the wind picked up, the sky darkened, and a cold rain started. Nothing violent and just in time to help our logging road seed mix germinate. Kinda a cold rain with the temps droppin' into the 50's, but so far gentle enough not to wash away seed.

Still dry at 4 P.M., but rain fell all around us--heavily in some places. Such is the nature of the summer/early fall rains hereabouts. Just some flashes and rumbles so far.

The weekend was cool--81* Sunday and 76* today. 64* at 6:45 P.M., and the local bellwether of Fall's arrival came today--the return of the scrub jays to our back yard. They clear out and head up the mountain when it turns hot here, and don't come back until the weather suits their compression ratio--or something. They were back this afternoon, being their raucous and delightful selves while driving off the mockingbirds that go on shift when the jays clock out in July.

We had to close the bedroom windows about 3 A.M. last night, that low-50s air temp was too chilly for our summer covers.

Migrating scrub jays? The rascally guys are here all year round. Every Summer I have to pull sprouting acorns they buried in the Fall and forgot about.

I'm still waiting for the June gloom to migrate.

Our Blue Jay numbers are really going up. There were 9 out there this morning eating shelled corn.
Was out fishing today and what a beautiful evening afterwards. Calm, mild 69 degrees, just splendid.

Pulled boards for walleyes Monday and Tuesday for a total of about 9 hours. Landed 22 or there about's with one 1 legal keeper. Learned some new spots, working on refining my techniques. Running 3 lines all alone can be tricksome. Not great fishing weather. High clear skies NE wind on Monday ESE yesterday. But as Rick H says, great days to be alive. I could have fished today as I was staying with friends near the lake I fish but I got to frettin' over chores last night and opted to come home.

Getting ready for Fall then Winter has alot of chores and it is so much easier to do them in nice weather and in an orderly fashion.

Absolutely fricking GORGEOUS !!
Gonna hit above 73degrees today, clear BLUE Skies.
Today's weather is why all the homeless bums, drunks and dopers all come to SoCal.

Generous entitlement payouts figure into the mix as well.

The weather has been a delight hereabouts, as Walks alludes to.

Mid 70s right now and a bit drizzly. Good. Spoiled now; don't like going more than 2 to 3 weeks without things getting well watered a time or two. May get some thunder showers over the next few days.

Fall here in the high steppes; rain in the mountains is tamping down the 125,000 acre fire and air quality is getting a lot better. Lows in the 30's, but not hard frost, and highs in the 60's and sun 10 hours a day. Life is good here now.

A bit warmer today, very clear outside with low humidity and light to moderate NNW-NW breezes. Classic "Santa Ana"/"Santana" wind conditions. The clear air is nice, but the warm winds and low humidities are fire conditions of the first rank.

"Santa Ana" is what Angelenos call these conditions; longtime locals out east where we live call them "Santanas". The genesis of the word is likely Anglicized Spanish--"Alientos de Satanas", "hot breath of Satan". Given their heat and accompanying brush and forest fire behaviors, this source gets my vote as most likely.

It's October, my favorite month, so the the overcast and fog will minimize before disappearing and being replaced by plentiful sun, a clear sky, and a gentle breeze.

Currently it is 66-degrees, humidity is 68% and there is a 4 mph breeze. My idea of weather perfection.
