Henry Homesteader

I handled one at the Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA a few days ago and it seems nicley finished as expected from Henry. I do not know the weight but it is lighter than my Big Boy 38/357 rifle and is somewhat compact in size. Trigger feels like a stryker fired pistol to me.
The specs are buried on Henry's site. Can't seem to find the page, today. IIRC, it weighs 6.63 pounds the receiver is drilled and tapped for a Weaver 63B scope base.

Here's some reviews:

It seems like it would be a great rifle for backyard coyotes or other wondering critters doing bad critter stuff in the yard.

No doubt.

If it weighed five pounds, I'd be excited, but that seems to be the one thing I can't get past on the Henrys, in general. I'd say price too, but that's not specific to Henry these days, so...

They seem to make good stuff though and I love what they're doing as far as putting something out there besides plastic pistols and getting on the AR bandwagon. Someone has to do this and I applaud them for it.

A blowback carbine will never be 5 pounds, due to the massive size bolt that is required. Notwithstanding, the wood furniture.

Here's pictures of the bolt on my 9mm CZ Scorpion. Most of the other parts are composite.

Heavy little bugger. Especially, with a loaded 30 round magazine.

I'm glad to see something in wood as well. Everything on the shelves these days is plastic.

Yes, wood is good! I'm OK with "plastic" in certain applications too though - just depends on what it is, but yes, good to see wood on something these days.

@Winelover , that CZ is beautiful in its own way. CZ makes some fine stuff.

I get it on the blow-back, and sometimes "heavy" guns don't "feel" heavy too, so it may be as handy as it is cool.

BTW, that Scorpion cost one and a half times more than the MSRP of the Homesteader, five years ago.

I'm looking forward to checking one out. It really looks like a BAR. I think one loaded with 147gr cast bullets will be do well for walks around the property.

Located the specification page with the three distinct models.

Looks like street price is going to be close to a grand... upper 900's....
I'm out. At 700-800, strong possibility. Not at that price, though.

Once the collector "feeding frenzy" dies out price will fall. We waited 3 months to buy a Ruger 5 shot 44 Special and saved $200.
Wholesale Hunter is a good place to look.
Only problem, I foresee is the outlawing of semiauto's by the current administration..............get em while the gettin is good!

But if you do feel this is the moment to buy I am for ya !
I wish they would have started with the .45 though.

I saw that, but haven't really read through what they're offering. It'll be interesting to see how they break into this market.

Pretty expensive for an ugly pistol. Was expecting a more western style. Looks like a Birdshead on a Ruger Service Six.
But what do I know. Prices on firearms anymore surprise me.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. At least, it's DA. Someone on the other site said Midwest guns was selling them for around $725, IIRC. And were sold out.
